We were supposed to be moving to Australia this year but I don’t think our visas will now come through in time due to their borders being closed, then we will be too old. Currently pissed off and looking at Plan B (although not actually sure what that is yet!) and looking for a completely new career.

Anyone else planning a massive change this year too?

We want to buy our first house/flat at the end of this year or Spring next year...lockdown has really made me hate my flat Grin

Have you thought about Canada? DH and I tried an online "point checker" thing once and had lots of points (both under 35).

CheshireDing · 23/01/2021 11:54

That sounds a nice thing to be looking forward to, more space, a garden if you don’t have one now etc. Good luck with finding your home.

W did look at Canada too, I need lots of sun though 😂😂

That's a shame. Australia is great (sorry not helpful OP Grin)

Not quite so huge but I plan on moving to the other end of the country. DH is not keen but I'll work around him, though it might mean being on my own with the DC Mon-Fri. It will also mean a career move.

😂 I think whether it’s abroad or to the other end of the country with children it’s a big move Shetoshe, good luck . It was a lot easily when it was just me and my backpack when I was 26!

Moving just over 9,000km from a small Covid free island to the UK.

Have spent this evening doing job applications. I go from excited I will see family and friends...to what I am I doing leaving a good job in what must be one of the safest places in the world (never lock my car sort of place). To move to the UK with no job lines up.

I started mine at the end of last year but certainly continuing this year, i began retraining as a social worker. Its a 2 year course so will finish next year. Tough at the moment juggling it with my existing job, as a single parent and now homeschooling, but managing so far!

We're hoping to buy a house. Feels uneventful as we have a 3 bed terraced that we rent from family but it's something we've been wanting for years.
Sorry to hear about your move OP.

TheGriffle · 23/01/2021 14:58

We started the process at the end of last year but we are currently waiting to be given a date to move into our new (to us!) 4 bedroomed detached house.

We currently live in a 3 bed semi with awful neighbours who hate us and our children and have made our lives hell to the point Dh is on medication from the stress of living next door to them.

It will be a fresh start where we don’t have to tell our children to walk like mice or ninjas constantly to stop next door banging on the wall or have to endure their music blasting when our 3 year old has a normal toddler tantrum and we’re hoping Dh will be able to come off his medication in time once we move. It will be life changing for us for the better and I can’t wait.

I’ve applied for another job in another country which means a huge move for my whole family.

I’m on tenterhooks waiting for a response to the application.

I’m 42

Good luck Op

How old is too old to move to Australia? Good luck with it all. Yes some major changes planned for this year.

Godimabitch · 23/01/2021 15:10

We're having a baby, that'll be a major life change!

LouJ85 · 23/01/2021 20:37
