Is it lockdown sending everyone mad?

OP posts:
MarieIVanArkleStinks · 22/01/2021 19:03

Been on the gin at 4pm for 2 days in a row now thanks to all the shitty news headlines plus working and home schooling a reception child

I feel your pain. I'm avoiding them, doing nothing more than giving them a quick scan. It would help if people stopped posting the relentless coronavirus catastrophising elsewhere on the site, too. AIBU is bad for that; other areas of the site less so but it is becoming harder to avoid. I can only conclude some people thrive on the negativity and it's hard to imagine some might actually be sorry when the shitshow is over and they'll be less able to be quite so free with the queenly rebukes.

You just reminded me I got some blackberry gin for Christmas! As it's Friday I may join you in an evening tipple.

VinylDetective · 22/01/2021 19:05

@khg1

I’ve just read that on your recommendation. The OP’s a complete loon.

My husband, who is sufficiently un-well-endowed in the height department to describe his height with a half inch, was particularly amused by it. If only I could find those elusive shoes which raise a man's height by 4 inches, I'd have his birthday present sorted..l

Thankfully my 5’5” (used to be 5’6” but he’s shrunk with age) husband is secure enough to laugh too. I sent him the link and he’s guffawing when he’s not going “poor bloke”.
Osquito · 22/01/2021 19:07

I can’t even guess what ‘underage atheists in Texas’ means, disappointed I’ve missed that one. There goes my Fri evening...

Iooselipssinkships · 22/01/2021 19:07

@khg1

Mumsnet scares me most of the time. If I post, I'm genuinely anxious about returning to the thread. Strangely, in real life, I'm assertive and confident. Nor do I know anyone with the type of (fairly extreme) attitudes I read on here.
Totally the same! I tend to comment and never return to the thread. I have my say and get the fuck out of there. I'll do the exactly same with this too, my apologies but au revoir!
FrankButchersDickieBow · 22/01/2021 19:11

@Lougle

So many zombie threads being resurrected, too.
That's because if any ones DARES, post about something that may have already been mentioned previously, you get people saying 'Oh GoD nOt ANOTHER tHrEaD ABOUT THIS!!!!!!!

So they probably search for the topic and see there is one there, and post, adding to that thread, as they fear the wrath of MN.

Blacktothepink · 22/01/2021 19:15

Yeah...freaky Friday 🧐

MNerGoneRogue · 22/01/2021 19:16

Me too. Anyone kind enough to report the gist?
WTAFIhavelosttheferret · 22/01/2021 19:21

Texas

The OPS husband had lost her money to a fake stockbroker
Her 14 year old son called his teacher the name of a porn star and was 1 step away from the PRU
Her mother was been groomed online by extreme atheists
Her 16 year old daughter was off to live in a viilage in Texas with her American boyfriend where she was going to be a mother and grandmother.

There was more but that was the gist

Oreservoir · 22/01/2021 19:22

It’s particularly harsh on MN today.

Sforsh49 · 22/01/2021 19:24

HMRC rang me to arrest me. It was right at the beginning when sometimes you got a real person on the call, which I did. I actually do have the power of arrest, so I told them not to bother coming out as I was at work at the Police Station and would just pop myself down to the Custody Office for them. The bloke didn't know what to say 😂

Oh and yes, you can tell when it's a full moon without even looking at the sky!

blahblahmeh · 22/01/2021 19:25

@MarieIVanArkleStinks Sounds yum! Cheers, if it's ant good can you tell me the brand, need to try something new. I have peach and orange blossom from Aldi, gorgeous, my husband has their mulled winterberry which is also a lovely winter gin Gin for all :-D

blahblahmeh · 22/01/2021 19:29

If it's ANY good, not ant. Ffs, only had 1 glass!

Pundemmic · 22/01/2021 19:57

@lockedownloretta you can get wedge shoe insets for under £2 on eBay.

JaneJeffer · 22/01/2021 20:02

I just wish people weren't so quick to report. I quite enjoy a troll thread.
Exactly. There was a good one earlier. I was disappointed when I came back on and it was gone. I couldn't believe people were giving them advice!

Osquito · 22/01/2021 20:03

@WTAFIhavelosttheferret
Oh, was that all? 😂

WTAFIhavelosttheferret · 22/01/2021 20:07

No, There was more but I can't remember it all!

WTAFIhavelosttheferret · 22/01/2021 20:09

Unexpectedly pregnant is back.
I sit with bated breath for the whole scan and emergency birth story

MarieIVanArkleStinks · 22/01/2021 20:13

@WTAFIhavelosttheferret. That screen name is ingenious!

RhubarbAndRoses · 22/01/2021 20:17

Yes!! It’s not just the crazy threads though. People are being so unbelievably nasty and harsh. Everyone just seems so bloody angry! There are a few OPs who have taken a real beating today 😫

montysma1 · 22/01/2021 20:26

It wasnt going to go either way. This wasnt just bad luck.
With the government refusing to do anything to get a handle on it for 2 months , this was always going to be the outcome. They were playing the "it might just go away" game too
Viral outbreaks are very predictable and mathematical in how they progress. Once we hit a critical number of cases which we did pretty early on, it was always going to happen.

kitschplease · 22/01/2021 20:35

The short sex man, the zombie threads, the homeless one, the covid ones where life will never be good again. It's gone batty!

MarieIVanArkleStinks · 22/01/2021 20:42

Viral outbreaks are very predictable and mathematical in how they progress. Once we hit a critical number of cases which we did pretty early on, it was always going to happen.

Of course it was. I'm not a virologist but that's not necessary to know at least this much. Precedent is also a pretty reliable indicator.

But no, it's: 'you went to the SUPERMARKET? You monster! It's selfish bastards like you causing lockdowns. The more you do it the longer the rest of us will be under house arrest!' The lack of criticality or any form of rational thinking is actually quite depressing.

Note it's always Granny they're killing. Never Grandad. That's quite interesting in itself.

VinylDetective · 22/01/2021 20:44

I feel sorry for Grandpa. Nobody cares about him.

ChimaeraEgg · 22/01/2021 20:56

The lack of criticality or any form of rational thinking is actually quite depressing.

Isn't it just.

WinterdiscontentGlorioussummer · 22/01/2021 20:58

Don't know if the poster of 'My life story' in aibu is legit, but she sure as h... doesn't get much sympathy. Posters are down right nasty to her, maybe thinking she's a troll. If she is not, she must be devastated.
