To think Jumperpoos can be good for babies

A friends stuck on Facebook a video of her baby bouncing like a maniac in a jumperoo. I'm not sure it's set up to the right height, as I didn't have one for my DC's, but the Baby is on it's tiptoes it doesn't look healthy for it's legs. She then asked me if I have one of those sit in walkers left over. I didn't have one of those either, as think both are bad for the babies hips. DH did buy a push long hunk of plastic junk musical walker, one loved it, one never touched it and seem to push around the dining chairs 🪑😂

Why is your thread title the opposite of your post?

WineInTheWillows · 20/01/2021 21:59

I feel like your OP contradicts your title somewhat, OP. Are you saying you think they can or cannot be good for babies?

AntennaReborn · 20/01/2021 22:01

Sorry but I'm just giggling childishly at "jumperpoos"

maybeitsjustmethen · 20/01/2021 22:01

Massive title fail

Too much ranting, not enough concentration

I don't think they can be good for them.

When the baby's feet are flat on the floor you're supposed to raise the height, so toes touching is correct.

AldiIsla · 20/01/2021 22:03

Just tell her you think she's a shit Mum and move on.

Maybe if you write to fisher price they'll pull them off the market?

ComDummings · 20/01/2021 22:06

Like most things, in moderation it’s fine. All day every day? Not good. 10 minutes here and there? All good!

BabyofMine · 20/01/2021 22:07

Tiptoes is CORRECT for Jumperoos! It’s bad for them if their feet are flat.

I don’t think they’re good to stick in for she’s, but 5 mins a day is not going to cause issues and is a bit of fun.

The walkers with wheels they sit in ARE supposed to be bad developmentally and are banned some places.

BabyofMine · 20/01/2021 22:08

*ages not she’s!!

cheesebubble · 20/01/2021 22:10

No they aren't good, neither is putting your baby in a sitting position before they sit themselves in a sitting position, those walkers are actually really dangerous as your child cannot actually walk.

Did I do all this and had all of them? Yes. You as a mother got to make the decision what risks you take and what's good for your child. Often we don't even know what's good or bad as not everything comes with a manual or even if it does, we ignore to read it.

22Giraffes · 20/01/2021 22:12

Ds loved his jumperoo, for short bursts it's fine, some times he bounced like a kangaroo on speed and other times he was more interested in the lights and sounds.

It made me lol so hard and I needed that so thank you OP.
NoWordForFluffy · 20/01/2021 22:15

We used to call it the Jumperpoo, as a good old bounce in it would always result in a poo shortly thereafter (both kids)! 😂😂

maybeiitsjustmethen · 20/01/2021 22:15

@AcornAutumn 😂 ohh dear I should not try to have a serious discussion on this now

maybeiitsjustmethen · 20/01/2021 22:19

It's the tip toes thing, how is voicing on your tip toes good ? Wouldn't it cause calf tightness And all that squashing of the poos 😬

@AldiIsla hmmm not going to say anything to her, absolutely personal choice, but lots of things are sold that aren't good for babies- cot bumpers, cot canopies, bumbos,

maybeiitsjustmethen · 20/01/2021 22:20
  • boucing ( not voicing) my autocorrect is on fire tonight 🔥

My daughter wanted to stand as soon as she was born. I used to take her to baby music classes, but we couldn't join in as she spent the whole class holding my hands to stand. A jumperoo saved my sanity.

DD never crawled, but was walking at 8 months.

They may not be good for all/many children developmentally, but I'd use one again.

Itsnotlikethiswithotherpeople · 20/01/2021 22:25

erm, well hundreds of thousands of babies have jumped in a jumperoo or similar. I think you should let this one go because your friend obviously thinks it's fine and didn't ask for your opinion. Unless she tells you the baby spends the whole day in it, it's really not something to get worked up about.

Minimamame · 20/01/2021 22:28

Both of my boys adored the jumperoo. They’re 8 & 6 now and I can’t see any ill effects from it. It definitely saved my sanity many times!!!

Dixiechickonhols · 20/01/2021 22:28

Mine had a sit in baby walker. She wanted to cruise never crawled. Fully supervised and short periods of time. Her feet weren’t on tippi toes (she’s was a big baby tall teen now) Not something I’d get upset about.

ChocolateChipMuffin2016 · 20/01/2021 22:29

@NoWordForFluffy me and DH did the same as it always guaranteed a clear out!

Like many others it’s fine for 5-10 minutes, but not all day! Gives some parents a much needed break and the kids like them! Didn’t do either of mine any harm.

Give your friend a break, anywhere safe to put down baby while you drink a cuppa is a win!

ParkheadParadise · 20/01/2021 22:33

Jumperoo's weren't around when dd1 was born. She had a baby walker that she tipped several times but loved it.
Dd2 had a jumperoo and loved it.

Circle of neglect innit
