To go to this interview?

I’ll try and keep this simple.

I currently work 2 jobs on a P/T basis equating to full time. 2 days per week in job A and 3 days per week in job B.

I like both jobs but it would be easier to do one full time. Doing job A full time would earn me more cash than doing job B full time. A mixture of both earns me in the middle.

I have only been doing job A for 7 months, I started in the midst of Covid, haven’t really met the team and have not stepped foot in the office (I will be home based but would have had to attend for meetings semi regularly ordinarily).

I saw an advert for job C in the same organisation as Job A. Same whole time salary and same directorate but different dept. Slightly more responsibility but in a theoretical way, I don’t think it will have an impact on a daily basis. Applied and been shortlisted for interview.

I told both managers in job A and job B that I had applied for C. Job B wished me luck and said she would be sad to see me leave but understood, Job A this morning contacted me and said they could possibly offer me full time hours doing job A if that would be something I would be interested in but they wouldn’t know until Monday for certain.

Job C interview is this afternoon. I should still go for it right? I just don’t want to piss anyone off as the likelihood is I’ll be with this organisation for a while, I don’t want a reputation of being flighty or unreliable.

Prior to doing jobs A&B I was with my last organisation for a decade learning my trade and becoming specialised.

Go for the interview, and good luck :)

Yes go for the interview. You’re not guaranteed getting the job and if it gives the other dept a kick up the bum to keep you, so much the better.
Good luck!!

Directionerforever · 20/01/2021 13:27

Thank you both Smile

What do I do if offered Job C? That’ll be a whole new conundrum 🤣 I’m not usually this indecisive I swear. I just like to be thought of as a great employee who is reliable and good at their job.

Good luck with the interview. If you are offered both that role, and full time hours for your current role then that's great, you get to choose which is best for you. Do you already know which your preferred outcome would be?

toomuchfaster · 20/01/2021 13:36

Do the interview and if you're offered, ask for time to think. Then go back to job A and ask for a definite, concrete offer or you will take Job C.

Directionerforever · 20/01/2021 13:50

@Randommother I think I’d probably go with full time hours in job A as they’ve indicated I could compress them into 4 days, it’s the same organisation and I think there would be plenty of scope for career development.

I don’t think I need to worry about getting offered today’s job 😂😂

Lol Is the organisation by any chance a large charity?
Directionerforever · 21/01/2021 08:10

No it’s not but sounds like there’s a story there to tell!
