4 year old and mask wearing

Posting here for traffic!
I had to pop to the shop earlier today for some essentials, and had to take my 4 year old dd with me.
A comment was made about her not wearing a mask, I did say that because of her age she doesn't have to.
Shes very aware that mummy needs to wear one when we go out, I suppose its normal to her now, and she has asked if she needs one. I've always told her that she's a bit little for one at the moment.
It just made me wonder, does anyone else's toddlers, younger children wear a mask?

Just turned 3 year old here, and not a chance in hell. And anyone suggesting she should (as has happened a couple of times) gets short shrift from me.

No not a tall 4, actually a very dinky 4.
It came across that she didn't actually know that smaller children dont necessarily need to wear one. Maybe its as case of if it didn't directly concern her, she didn't need to know. I'm not sure, it's not something that has been mentioned to me before. Not that I take her out to the shops very often. I prefer to shop without the kids, and keep a tiny bit of my sanity in the process

My 10 year old does without fuss, and I wouldn't expect different.

I would expect 8+ to be able to without a peep and 6+ to handle it for short durations if very necessary.
4? Some might cooperate, but I wouldn't expect it.

I would be surprised by a rules change if the new variant is more child-transmissable, possibly accompanied by blocks on children in spaces, but I still wouldn't think 4 is reasonable anywhere other than a flight or a hospital.

@mummyofthreemunchkins

Thank you everyone, I try not to take her if I can help it. I think she would probably wear one and tolerate it, much like most adults I suppose! And its perhaps not a bad thing to get her used to while shes still at an age that (for the moment anyway) it isnt required! Not sure if it's relevant, but she is only just 4, so closer to 3 than 5, it was only 10 days ago she turned 4. We night have to have a look for some funky patterned ones in a dinky size! Especially as a pp mentioned, about the new variant being much more transmissible!
Tots bots (which is a UK reusable nappy company) have funky children's ones and make a donation to charity for each pack of 2 purchased.

In Scotland it's aged 5 or over but in England it's 11 I think that masks have to be worn. It doesn't help everywhere having different ages!

No our children aged 10 and 7 don't wear them.

My two year old often wants to wear one!

My 5 year old dgs wears one outside of house. He is used to it and does not try to pull it off. My dd is a key worker and he wears it to school with no problem.
