Enjoyable ways to spend time in lockdown

Very hopefully, in the next few weeks I'm going to have a bit of time to myself. This will be the first time in a long time when I won't feel the need to fill that time with extra work! So if be extremely grateful for you suggestions for pleasant ways to fill the time. And I hope maybe this can provide a bit of inspiration for others too. So far on my list I have:

  • Reading a new (to me) Agatha Christie
  • Going for runs
  • Online yoga class
  • Exploring new walks from my doorstep
  • Watching Bridgerton
  • Long indulgent baths

Would be grateful for any suggestions...

Do you have a garden? Now is good time to start getting that ready for planting

Or you could think about planting pepper or chilli seeds on a window in the house

I do have a garden. Any know nothing about gardening! Good idea, maybe it's time to do something!

Go and look for one of those monthly gardening subscription boxes so they will deliver you seeds etc!

Be careful with things like the runs, walks and yoga- you're supposed to be relaxing and adding stuff like that to your list (unless you're a naturally very active and motivated person) is going to feel like a "should", almost like work!

I would be planning a takeaway night and also a cooking day one day where you try out a recipe that really excites you and is normally too fiddly for you to have the energy to do - if you like cooking that is.

There is also WAY not enough Netflix going on on your list! Plan to start a new series at tea time and give watch it all through the night. I recommend Emily on Paris for dumb as fuck junk food watching, or Call MY Agent for actual good TV - Season 3 is being released on Thursday! Get a friend involved either with a sleepover (if you're allowed) or by them also doing a watchathon of the same show and discuss via WhatsApp. You will really like Bridgerton, its trashy and addictive!

Also Pieces Of A Woman is on Netflix - it's an incredible film, so well acted. It is NOT a feel good movie though. Extremely sad and hard to watch, but so moving.

Do the physical stuff you normally cant be fucked with during your TV sessions - manicure, give yourself a foot massage, face massage with moisturiser, hair masks etc.

Enjoy yourself!

A craft?
Knit yourself something
Or knit a gift for someone
Cross stitch a picture to frame
Tidy your garden

A new vibrator and plenty of batteries?

Readytogogogo · 18/01/2021 09:27

This time of year I never think I want to go outdoors, but it always cheers me up when I do. So I would push myself to go out every day, ideally in the morning because that gives me a nice boost and sets me up for the day, plus morning light is meant to be good for regulating your body clock.

All the better if there is actual sunshine. So I always keep half an eye on the window and scamper out immediately if the sun peeks out.

I am tidying up an area in the garden so that when we are allowed to have visitors in the garden, I can invite relatives or an elderly neighbour round for tea. When I last wanted to do that, I realised the ground was too muddy and uneven for my neighbour and I didn't have any suitable chairs and there was too much clutter everywhere! I am thinking of putting up a gazebo or tarp or something so we don't have to be put off if it's showery.

Ive been sorting out old photographs and only keeping those with the family in. I have labelled them so people will know who they are. I’ve also been writing down all the stories I know about my family so they don’t die with me.

Readytogogogo · 18/01/2021 11:00

I think it's so true about going outside. I've noticed I sleep so much better when I've had some fresh air.

Sorting out photos is a good idea!
