To ask for Irish alternatives to UK webshops?

I'm a Brit living in the EU and until recently I was still ordering a few times a year from UK based webshops (mostly books, occasionally kid's clothes). Obviously this is no longer an attractive option due to Brexit. Are there any Irish based alternatives people would recommend? Especially for children's books. Many thanks!

Often Irish shops are actually UK shops.

If it's books you're after why not use your country's Amazon, just set the search filter to books in English 🤷‍♀️

Thanks Crotchburn, I'm trying to avoid Amazon, and they don't have a version for the country I'm in anyway.

Easons is a chain of bookshops in ROI that will deliver to Europe.

Mrsbclinton · 17/01/2021 06:56

Book depository free delivery worldwide much better selection than Easons

Aerielview · 17/01/2021 06:56

Easons

Actually, this is spot on
CutToChase · 17/01/2021 07:15

Book depository is owned by Amazon and is a UK registered company...

CherryValanc · 17/01/2021 07:22

For books:
www.kennys.ie/
or
www.omahonys.ie/

CherryValanc · 17/01/2021 07:28

^both irish owned independent stores. (Kenny's being the oldest online store in the world)

Then this Irish Times article gives a long list of other types of stores

That's a toughy, like PP said many are actually uk based.
I use The Book Centre.ie. It's a local bookshop so I dont know about them shipping outside of Ireland but with covid they are closed so I order online. For books I cant get there I use the book depositary. It's an .ie website but pretty sure its uk based. However there is no indication that I'll have to pay any customs for my latest order, so far anyway.

I tend to shop local small businesses for kids stuff but during lockdown I've only been able to get baby clothes in supermarkets like Dunnes or Tesco. Outside of that I shop on the .ie version of H&M or Next or babyboo.ie for things like bibs.
I'm watching with interest as I've been forced online and need to widen the websites I use.

Damn. I'm loath to give Jeff Bezos anymore money. Its such a handy website for the obscure books my DH looks for.
RuggerHug · 17/01/2021 07:48

Book station and gutter bookshop.

BlaireauDachs · 17/01/2021 08:37

Thank you for all the replies, very helpful.

I came across Easons by googling, but the reviews I found are really awful so I've been put off ordering from them.

For some EU countries (but apparently not all), Next is dispatching from Germany, so that's still an option for clothes.

Talesfortadpoles.ie is a brilliant kids bookshop. Locally owned by a lovely woman called caroline. So helpful if you need advice or help. If you’re sending gifts they’ll personalise cards etc for you if you ask. Lovely good quality toys and prints as well. They shipped to my brother in Spain.
Second for kennys.ie. Great selection and prices are very good. Bit slower than Amazon but much prefer supporting them.
