Covid police

AIBU to not be able to wait for the days when you can create a thread about anything & not having people commenting “is that not against the rules?” Or “are you in the UK? Cause if so then you are breaking covid rules” etc.

This is semi-lighthearted Grin

Sorry op if we can't say Karen, then I don't think Peter is ok either. Just wanted to point that out to you as while I don't have an issue with your op, I still felt the need to have a go off you

Stovetopespresso · 16/01/2021 18:45

sorry there are too many of you on here - is this an essential thread? Grin

Newmama29 · 16/01/2021 18:47

@UpShutTheFuck but I’m following “the rules”. I’m allowed to shop with my support bubble.

Look as someone that nearly died from the over cautionary side of covid, forgive me for being a bit resentful to how much emphasis is being put on the dangers of covid & neglecting how it’s damaging a lot of other aspects of health

At least we'll be able to spot the nosy judgemental fuckers in future because they'll all have noses like pugs from having them permanently pressed up against their window and in other people's business.

Newmama29 · 16/01/2021 18:50

I’m thankful to have some good hearted laughs on this thread today! I’ve been really struggling with lockdown this week & if I’m honest I’m really at the end of my tether & unsure of how much more “rules” I can follow. You have all made me feel a good bit better Grin

@EmilyInParis what is a TAAT? I can't look it up as my mask is tangled round my face and hands right now

EmilyInParis · 16/01/2021 18:53

Ask HQ, they'll tell you, and hopefully they will have some scissors handy to cut you free!

Biscuit
Newmama29 · 16/01/2021 18:53

@Stovetopespresso it’s a thread about a thread. However, if the correct research was applied they would see that I created this thread before commenting on the other one, discounting that this is not a TAAT Grin

FenEel · 16/01/2021 18:56

I’ve got Karma Police going round my head now. “Covid police
Arrest this woman, she bought a Twix, she didn’t wash her shopping..”
“Covid police, Ive given all I can, it’s not enough”
“For a minute there, I lost myself, I lost myself”

EmilyInParis · 16/01/2021 18:57

That's brilliant 🤣

Stovetopespresso · 16/01/2021 18:59

well I'm scrolling my phone with unsanitised hands sorry if I give it to you

Yokey · 16/01/2021 19:01

Just today, someone on a thread not at all covid-related chastised the OP for "even thinking" about a holiday! Not even allowed the joy of looking forward to better times!

It inspired me to look for a holiday for later in the year Grin

EmilyInParis · 16/01/2021 19:02

@Stovetopespresso

I think you're mistaking me for being one of "covid police"

Reality being the only reason I answered the OP on the previous thread (which isn't a TAAT because of 2 minutes you know) is because she was chatting a crock of shit. The actual topic of her drivvle I care not!

So, on that note, germ away until your hearts content ❤️

Newmama29 · 16/01/2021 19:03

@Yokey if it was up to me I’d be sunning it up somewhere right now! I feel like MN is a cesspit of despair right now

OP posts:
Avondklok · 16/01/2021 19:15

I think the Covid police come about because so many many people keep bending the rules to suit themselves and the ducking disease keeps spreading. We need to STAY away from other people as much as humanly possible, and only do essential things. Wandering around B&M and grabbing a Starbucks doesn't count.

Newrumpus · 16/01/2021 19:21

If this is all you have to worry about, OP, you live a charmed life 😂

MissEliza · 16/01/2021 19:28
@EmilyInParis I don’t have to justify myself to anyone. I’m a grown adult that can choose to shop how I please. My point on that thread was that no one knows other people’s situations so really shouldn’t judge. Maybe for some people my situation seems unreasonable but it’s not really up to the perfect peters of mumsnet to tell me whats deemed right in their eyes. As far as I’m aware I’m not breaking any “rules” that the stupid government have rolled out, so just because you think I should do x,y,z doesn’t mean I have to
I think the point that it's not a law or rule to shop alone but doing so is helpful and considerate as it helps supermarkets to keep congestion down. I have an aversion to people telling me what to do but I do care about doing the right thing for all of us so I shop alone. Your position on the matter is self centred.
Sorry Op. I know you're trying to be light hearted but @Newmama29 is being quite disingenuous in what she's saying.

Stovetopespresso · 16/01/2021 19:43

@EmilyInParis don't worry I'm known for being police-y in a group of close friends. I was just trying to be funny i promise!!
I think its important to be silly I was making fun of myself really.
on that point, is it OK to use ones knickers as a face mask when you've forgotten to bring it?

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 16/01/2021 19:52

I agree There are too many rulers knocking around. Make it all up as they go along.

You're that woman from tiktok aren't you, the knicker face woman 😲

Quaagars · 16/01/2021 21:33

For crying out loud, page ONE and the 'rona police are out lol

donewithitalltodayandxmas · 16/01/2021 23:12

So you created this because you got pulled up on a thread for going shopping with your mum, ( which is against guidelines) and you suggested it was the only possible way you could do it , but others suggested other ways , and you went on the thread that was complaining about people not shopping alone , unless carers , single parent with a child, it was never going to go well for you .

hammeringinmyhead · 16/01/2021 23:19

YABU. I saw that post. Every supermarket in my town has a "shop alone where possible" sign. DH is in my household and we go separately so we don't make someone else queue for longer. How exactly do you think "I could shop alone, just don't wanna, so there!" was going to go!

I'm sick of the covid police muscling in with irrelevance but that is not an example.

Robbybobtail · 16/01/2021 23:19

You are a selfish granny-murderer OP - why should you be going out to the shops? You’ve had since March to get a veg patch going in the garden. Going to the park? Your child can easily do star-jumps in the living room - just stick joe wicks on, open a window if you want fresh air!
I have anxiety which means I haven’t been out since 1998 so why the hell should YOU get to go out? Now you know what it’s like for those of us who don’t have a life anyway!

JUST STAY THE FUCK HOME!!!!!!
