How to make the most of your 30s

I’m in the second half of my 30s 😮, and I just wondered for those of you slightly older what would say to those in their 30s to make the most of this age?

Watching this thread with interest as I’m 30 in a couple of months and feel like I kind of wasted my twenties.

Skullcup · 15/01/2021 21:14

Don't have kids. I feel like my 30s got eaten up in being pregnant, having young DC and my entire life revolving around them.

My life has got infinity better in the last 12 months now they are older. I'm 40 now!

I was 35 last week - watching with interest lol!

Oooh good thread! I'm 30 this year. My DC's are 5 and nearly 3, I'm actually quite looking forward to my 30's as my kids will get more independent over these years. The last 6 years have felt like a slog, wonderful of course, but small children are a bit of a slog.

I'm looking forward to the time when I only have myself to dress in the morning, don't feel too guilty to ask a family member to babysit (because 8 year olds are a hell of a lot easier than toddlers) and can say "well just make yourself a sandwich, I'm watching telly" Grin

I'm determined that my 30's are going to be my best years so far!

If you’re in a bad relationship, get out of it

(Though this applies to any age, not just 30s!)

Just appreciate and enjoy your power!!

My 30s were also taken up with being pregnant and having young children. I wouldn’t have not had them so wouldn’t change that. Before children I always thought that I’d be far less mainstream, more quirky in how I raised them, travel the world in a yacht type thing- so if you’re ordinary I would maybe try to branch out a bit. Also if there’s anything you’d like to change career wise, it’s a good time to do a course etc.

You can’t have it both ways. Would you want to be TTC at 40? And raising teens in your 50s.

Your life changes whatever age you have kids.

I was told to travel, sort out your pension and start a good skincare routine. Not necessarily glamorous but makes sense

waitingforadulthood · 15/01/2021 21:41

What makes sense is live your life to the best potential, regardless of age. Some people have babies at 18, some at 24, some at 39, some at 35. Its not your age or the decade you are going through that impacts upon your life. It's circumstance. It's so up economic opportunities. It's global pandemics and financial independence. Stop living as though the number of years you've been on this earth makes a difference. The best advice given is to live. The best you can.

Swingsandroindabouts · 15/01/2021 21:48

If you don’t have kids yet..LIVE, really live..not saying with kids you don’t live, but it’s obviously a different type of life.
Travel lots, drink lots, have fun
