It's burning because I got distracted with MN and left it on for 20 mins!!! I've washed it off with plain water but it's still burning! Shall I put something on it or leave it until it calms down?

Oh Christ I used nair on my underarms for 5 minutes and had blisters and oozing armpits for days.

Your in for a rough few days

whoamongstus · 14/01/2021 21:01

Ooof. Keep it clean and dry, DO NOT PUT DEODORANT ON IT, maybe some Sudocrem if you've got it.

Caspah · 14/01/2021 22:46

I've found Sudocrem helps with this problem, if that's what's available.

Skatastic · 14/01/2021 23:23

Please please please get a GP appointment! I did this and it make me feel sick as a dog the burning was HORRENDOUS. Got GP appointment who said he sees about 3 people a week who have burned themselves doing hair removal. Gave me some steroid cream that sorted it immediately.

Also the GP was extremely attractive and I was a dick head going "I havent got a bra on but it would only be side boob you would see if I showed you" ffsssssss

Alternista · 14/01/2021 23:24

A cold wet flannel to cool the skin?

user1473878824 · 14/01/2021 23:28

@Skatastic Grin I got nervous during a breast exam for a lump simply because the student doctor observing was really hot. There should be a RULE where they tell you how hot they’re doing to be first.

@Frickssake Have you got any aloe vera gel? Because slap that on like billy-o and keep it in the fridge.

MrsClatterbuck · 14/01/2021 23:30

Yes aloe vera and keep it cold.

pretentiousrubberduck · 14/01/2021 23:47

I did this during lockdown 1, thank god it was when we had to stay home because I could not put my bloody arms down for about 3 days! I had serious chemical burns on both armpits, I had it on for about 4 minutes in total. It took over a week to stop hurting, but on the plus side I didn't need to wear deodorant at all for a couple of weeks! You need a cold, wet flannel as often as possible, to try and take the burn out and lots of healing cream e.g. sudocrem. Good luck, hopefully yours isn't as aggressive as mine was!

IHaveBrilloHair · 14/01/2021 23:50

Sudocreme and you really don't need a GP appointment.
In future, a new razor, and king of shaves oil.

ChronicallyCurious · 14/01/2021 23:53

Ouch 😭😭

I chemically burnt myself once when I was young trying to hair remove my eyebrows (idiot lol) and my GP told me to take antihistamine for two weeks, gave me a short course of steroids (around 5 days) as well as steroid cream and antihistamine cream. Deffo start with antihistamines as well as maybe some sudocrem incase it blisters! Antihistamines will help any potential swelling.

HeadIsFucked · 14/01/2021 23:57

Used this once, as directions advised too, to the letter. Never fucking again. Awful stuff.

Sudocreme solved my issue after a day or so, but it was sudocreme, cold shower pointed at armpits, sudocreme, and repeat for a while.

5foot5 · 15/01/2021 00:09

Shit
Is that the same Nair who do the facial cream?
I use that occasionally and have been careful not to leave it too long but scary that the under arm stuff sounds so fierce. Actually I have often been tempted to leave the facial stuff longer than it says because it rarely removes all the chain hairs. Never again.

Latenightreader · 15/01/2021 00:16

I once used nair on my upper lip. It went bright red. Fortunately it was comic relief the next day so I kept my red nose firmly in place all day and hoped that everyone would assume the colour was just a reflection of the nose...

Branleuse · 15/01/2021 09:27

I am really sensitive to hair removing methods too.
The creams give me painful chemical burns if i leave them.on long enough to actually work. Waxing or epilation gives me spots and ingrown hairs that get infected really quick.
I can basically only cope with a light shave with a very good razor, or being hairy.
I hope your pits feel better soon.
I think skin heals best without creams or potiins. Just water and keep it clean and dry

Frickssake · 15/01/2021 11:01

@user1473878824 putting my arm pits in the fridge sounds like it would be bliss atmGrin
