Just that really, struggling to wfh and the tasks. DS just about treads water at school (Y5) so needs me to be with him when completing assignments. Its 2 hours on maths and 2 hours on english with another hour on re/science/art depending on what is set for the day. I have set hours so its devices until I am free to help so everyday is feeling like walking through treacle. How are you all coping???

DD (13) not engaging in any work at all.Lying in bed most days.Honestly I know it's bad but I've given up I'm a lone parent and right now I don't have the mental energy.

The DFE says KS2 children should be completing 4 hours of work online a day. How come you are doing more? If they're in Year 5 then they need to start learning to take responsibility for getting stuff done. If tasks set are too hard to do independently then it isn't appropriately differentiated so I'd be speaking to the teacher about tasks that are more manageable, especially if they are already "treading water."

I'm not missing the point. All this moaning about teaching I child.
Teachers manage 25-30 and still get constant criticism. As has just been shown.
What's your solution?

Confused Year 5 is aged 9-10 in the UK system. There's quite a range of independence, so this is pretty optimistic IMO.

Anyone else's child write "like a poo" on their schoolwork, then giggle hysterically and promise they'll do it ALL next week?
