To want to cancel dentist for dc

I was offered an appointment for them both (11 & 13) a couple of weeks ago - they've not been for about a year. I was happy to accept and the appointment is going ahead tomorrow (had a reminder this morning) but I'm not sure we should be going in the current circumstances. We are following the rules and wonder what the risk could be at the dentist - low I guess but I would kick myself if we did pick it up there. Neither have toothache or anything. But it also feels irresponsible to not get their teeth seen when they haven't been seen for so long.

What would you do?!

I think you should take them, it's a medical reason - you're hardly partying.
Don't worry about it.

kowari · 13/01/2021 12:57

I wouldn't cancel this late, I think you should have given at least 24 hours notice so they could fill the slot.

vodkaredbullgirl · 13/01/2021 12:57

Just cancel it, if you are that worried.

OverTheRainbow88 · 13/01/2021 12:57

If they brush their teeth well and no complaints I would postpone

frogsbreath · 13/01/2021 12:57

I would take them, you don't know when you will be offered an appointment again and check ups are important. You shouldn't wait until there is an obvious problem like pain or discomfort.

PurpleDaisies · 13/01/2021 12:57

Dentists are really well set up for working in a covid safe way.

milienhaus · 13/01/2021 12:58

I would go - you’d be kicking yourself more if they developed a cavity or something which could have been prevented if seen sooner. All staff will be in PPE.

Beamur · 13/01/2021 13:00

I would go. It will be safe

StealthPolarBear · 13/01/2021 13:00

I'm desperate for mine to go :(

WhatHaveIFound · 13/01/2021 13:04

I would go. The dentist will be working in a Covid safe way. Mine has very controlled processes in place for visits.

PlanDeRaccordement · 13/01/2021 13:05

Go.

HeyMister · 13/01/2021 13:06

My children 4 & 5. Will be going in a couple of weeks. Risk is lower at the dentist.

lurchersrule · 13/01/2021 13:06

Thank you - I think we'll go. It just suddenly occurred to me should we even be doing this but I guess they know it's safe.

This.

They want to protect themselves as well as their patients

Lazypuppy · 13/01/2021 13:07

Definitely go.

My daughter has finally got her next appointment for next week

YerAWizardHarry · 13/01/2021 13:07

I'm desperate for a checkup for me and DS but can't get an appointment, I would be pretty miffed if I heard appointments were being cancelled last minute

FippertyGibbett · 13/01/2021 13:09

I think you should go . A check up would be a very low risk procedure I think.
I had a crown recently it it was very safe.

2bazookas · 13/01/2021 13:26

I'd go to the dentist. ( We did,and the covid biosecurity provisions by our dentist and all the staff, were impressively reassuring). I'm due another checkup in spring and won't miss it.

Last week my GP texted me an offer of oldies pneumonia vaccine appointment. We've been sheltering at home forever; so I dithered about the risks of going to the surgery but decided not to be a wimp. The clinic was very securely run and I'm glad to have that extra protection. For my own psychological benefit :-) I wore a new disposable mask and all-cotton clothes. As soon as I got home after the jab, I binned the mask, stripped off everything, shoved all clothes in a hot wash and had a hot shower.

PattyPan · 13/01/2021 13:29

I would definitely go given the short notice. I got an email from my dentist last week offering to rebook my cancelled appointment from April last year and I’m in two minds about whether to go for it - it’s reassuring to hear they have lots of protections in place.

Liverbird77 · 13/01/2021 13:37

I would go. No question about it.
I had an appointment myself last week, as did my two year old. I felt totally safe. They are going above and beyond to make it safe.

We've got one booked for the end of the month, we were due last April. If I couldn't get one I'd be annoyed if people were cancelling last minute too. Fair enough if you don't want to go, but you shouldn't be leaving it until the day before the appointment to cancel.
