To want to know what's gone wrong (baby sleep)

I posted in the sleep section but didn't get any replies. I'm hoping with the traffic here someone might be able to help.

My 13 month old has turned into a screaming banshee at night. He would previously turn off the touch lamp have a cuddle and then go down no tears and find a comfortable position and go to sleep.

The last four or five nights he has hysterically screamed at me sat up refusing to lie down and just screams like I've never heard before until I pick him up and he falls asleep in my arms after he has calmed down.

Now last night he screamed twice through the night and again I had to go and hold him back to sleep. He then rolled onto his tummy and slept.

I honestly have no idea how it's turned around so much so quickly. Wtf has happened? I'm gutted. He slept so well and I work nights so when I'm back to work my partner will have to deal with it and I know it will just escalate. I have two weeks to sort this. What can I do? (Have contacted the GP in case it is an ear issues as he keeps rubbing his ear!).

Teething probably, lots coming in at once.

BertieBotts · 12/01/2021 08:56

Yes he's teething. Give him calpol or ibuprofen.

DS2 had an awful time, we used to give it to him half an hour before bed pre emptively.

Ok thank you for this. I guess I'll try and adopt the "this too shall pass"

Either in pain or, sorry, it's just one of those things. If you've had a baby hat has consistently slept well I know its hard to believe that you can try anything and it still won't always work!

Bit concerned about you having 2 weeks to sort it or it will escalate as it implies your husband won't cope.

My almost 14 month old DD went through this exact thing a couple of weeks ago.. we had a bad week of night waking and now she's back to sleeping well again! It could be teething or a mini sleep regression. I hope it passes quickly for you X

HoneyWheeler · 12/01/2021 10:37

What are his naps like? This happened to me and it transpired he needed a little more awake time before bed, so we pushed him from 6:30-7 and it solved it

BananaBananaII · 12/01/2021 11:53

I was hoping to use this time off master his naps. He has gone back to either sleeping on me, in the car or in the pram. Ranges between one and two naps a day.

@An0n0n0n he struggles with the sleep issues. I can run on very little. He can't. Not a lot I can do about that.
