Coming off Citalopram

I was on citalopram for 9 months before I decided to come off. I was on 20mg and reduced by 5mg over 2 months. With minimal side effects. I was on 5mg for a month and decided to stop on 1st Jan.
first week was fine. I’m now having horrendous withdrawal symptoms. Feel dizzy constantly. Even when I’m sitting down so it’s now starting to make me feel sick. I get really hot in the evenings. Heart palpitations. Lips tingling. My moods are all over the place. I feel like I’m going crazy sometimes just don’t feel myself. My poor 3 year old son. I am determined to push through as I never want to go through this again!

Any tips on when this will get better? Xx

@Shehasadiamondinthesky Oh isn’t it awful! It’s so hard to think positive but I am trying and pushing through.

@BrightYellowDaffodil 😂 I used the pill cutter when I went from 10 to 5 and always dropped them on the floor! Not just me then! It’s only because I went through all the stages really well I thought this last stage would be ok too. Oh how wrong I was but I am 12 days in now on nothing so going to see it though x

@Blobby10 it honestly saved my life. I had concerns about anti depressants before I needed them but they work wonders for those that need them! I just felt quite foggy on them and wanted to try and cope without them x

@Candyce262017 I know what you mean - it certainly saved my life when I started taking it. I've never felt foggy on them though so maybe they just suit me 😀. I found that whilst they didn't make the black cloud totally disappear, it helped to lift it enough that I could see things more clearly and therefore deal with them. I was so lucky that my GP at the time said "there's nothing wrong with taking something to help the chemicals in your brain balance out in the same way you would take something to help your blood pressure lower". It lessened the 'stigma' that I felt for taking the pills much less.
