Glass splashbacks (kitchen): Smoked v tinted, and what about fixings?

I want a glass splashback for behind my hob and someone suggested smoked glass. I do want a smoky grey colour, but most of the websites I've looked at seem to talk about tinted/coloured glass rather than smoked glass ... is it the same thing? Is one better/worse than the other?

Also some of the website images show 4 obvious fixing screws in the corners of the splashback, and others don't ... is there a more discrete way to fix a splashback to the wall?

We have a glass splashback, and I love it - so easy to wipe down & clean.

It's a pale greeny/grey colour, but I couldn't tell you whether technically it's smoked or tinted! I would guess it's probably all the same thing, though.

You don't get anything showing through from the wall.

Ours is fitted the whole length of our worktop, and was glued in by the glass company, so no screws on show. They laser measured it so that it fits exactly into the gap between the cupboards.

Google Tempered Glass Splashbacks Any Colour and something should come up near you. Basically lots of companies take your measurements and what colour you want and spray the back of the glass with the paint. They then fix it in place with some kind of special glue in one of those gun things, like you get silicone in.

I bought a whole set from an eBay seller once in a Farrow and Ball colour and the people who did my quartz work surfaces glued them on for me. Looked fabulous!

As far as I'm aware you just stick them on using an appropriate strong adhesive.

Check the reviews though and proceed cautiously if it's clear glass, you don't want to risk the adhesive showing through. It would be a bigger to remove I imagine, if it went wrong.

If in doubt email the company and ask for advice perhaps.
