To ask for help on isolation rules

So our household is in isolation. Dh symptoms started on 30th Dec, positive test result was finally received on 6th Jan, email from track and trace confirmed that household should isolate up to and including 8th Jan. All fine, done that.

Dd developed a rash on 6th Jan, most likely covid rash, awaiting test and result. Understand that she now needs to isolate until 16th, ten days after her symptoms began.

But what about me? And DH? Do we also have to extend our isolation until 16th or now that we've done our 10 days and are symptom free, can we go out (literally just want to be able to walk the dog each day, friends have been a great help for the last 10 days but obvs don't want to rely on them if we can go out ourselves)?

I can only find old guidance on Public Health England, and government guidelines either aren't clear or i'm thick (neither of which are impossible).

Can anyone help with the maths??

Apologies, we're in England. I know that may make a difference.

Had posted on the Corona page but no responses so hoping someone here may be better informed than i am!

You’ve done your ten days and as you were symptom free at the end of those, you are free to go out.

So just dd who has to re-start isolation?

Yes. So you all isolate for ten days from the first day the first person has symptoms. Anyone who is symptom free at the end of those ten days comes out of isolation. Anyone who starts symptoms, even on day ten, then starts their own ten day isolation period irrespective of how long they have already been isolating.

I agree.

DH - positive - ends isolation 8th, free to leave the house 9th.
You - no symptoms - ends isolation 8th, free to leave the house 9th.
DD - symptoms in 6th, within isolation period, so isolates until 16th, free to leave the house 17th, and doesn't trigger further isolation for you and DH.

Awrsome, thanks all. That's what i thought but the PHE diagram suggested not?! Relieved i can go and top up the fruit without DH coming back with nothing but cake!

Hmm I'd say that if your DD then gets a positive result then you all isolate until 16th. Particularly you because you haven't had it. So you start the isolation again for each positive result. At least that's how I read it.

This is the current PHE graph confirming you are fine to be out of isolation now.

It's classed as the same infection so only people who develop symptoms need to start isolation again.

If you start to go out and about and develop symptoms you need to test and isolate again.

That's great. Thanks all. I was looking at an older version of the PHE image so got confused. Yay! Freedom!! For me, anyway 😉
