Picking new glasses during covid

Hi I desperately need to pick some new frames for my glasses as my prescription has drastically changed.

I’m just wondering if anyone has done this during covid? Do I need to try all of the frames on while wearing my mask because obviously I will need to see how they suit my face.

I’ve looked on Specsavers website and it isn’t clear, it just says that all frames will be disinfected between uses. I’ve also looked at the opticians guidelines and can’t find the answer.

Any experiences would be appreciated.

My specsavers has way too many staff milling about and is letting people wander in off the street to talk about making appointments and stand at the front reception desk with their dog for ages. As you can tell I'm bitter!

I got my existing glasses reglazed because I couldn't be doing with trying them on with the mask. I wasn't allowed to remove my mask (which I'm fine with) so I gave up.

Depends where you are but I use Iolla in Scotland. They have virtual try on on the website which will not 100% perfect does give a genuinely decent idea of how they look.

That said, i still havent bought a pair as I would rather try them on but not sure I want to in shop

Glasses direct let you try on 4 pairs by post. They’re popular with my family. Lots of good intro offers usually.

I got new glasses a couple of months ago. When I was pretty sure I’d decided on my preferred pairs I asked if I could check without the mask on to see them on my whole face and they were fine with that.

I found my Specsavers packed out too. People coming and going, sitting waiting, in and out of different rooms, lots of staff milling about chatting.

I went to an independent optician where it was much better managed and I felt more comfortable.

Mask on, all glasses tried out in a tray. When I found pairs I liked, I turned my back and quickly pulled my mask down to check if they looked ok. The ones that didn't suit were obvious even with the mask on.

If you have a small face and you are going to specsavers look at their kylie minogue range, they tend to be more petite, I have quite a narrow face and that range tends to suit me, i have also picked frames from the teenage section before

(I realise this wasnt your question sorry!)
