Posted for traffic.
DS 12 months is teething, I think. Chewing fingers, drooling, snotty nose and pulling ear, woke up crying, generally abit ratty.

I’m suffering badly with this stupid health anxiety.
Gave him some calpol and I’m so fucking anxious I’ll have to take him to A&E (no fever, breathing fine)

I’m having CBT and it seems to be helping, except in times like this where I just want to run away.
(Background DS was in hosp with RSV bronchiolitis and query sepsis early on in his life around 6-10 weeks old)

I’m so anxious, palpitations and cotton mouth and I feel like I can’t breathe.

Please someone convince me DS is fine and I’m just fucking insane.

No better today, he’s dribbly but playing and happy. Eating cheese and yoghurt, very sniffly and couldn’t chew his tea. Gave ibuprofen. So anxious. Poor ds

This can’t be bronchiolitis again can it? Anxiety is through the fucking roof tonight

No judging by your previous post about him being happy. All my babies got colds when teething. Every time. X
Daisychain789 · 09/01/2021 20:17

It sounds like typical teething to me.

Also I completely emphasise with you - I had health anxiety and am finally in a better place with it all.
I had a placental abruption which caused lack of oxygen for my son and a month in hospital and he came home on oxygen. Once he came off oxygen, any tiny thing I obsessed over. He’s 2 now and very very healthy. I don’t know what fixed my health anxiety but as time went on it gradually eased off. I know it’s hard with COVID but it’ll get easier

sazzysazz337 · 09/01/2021 21:24

He’s just so grizzly and upset but doesn’t seem “ill” more pissed off if anything

It sounds like you're really suffering with the anxiety. It sounds horrible. Have a look at this. It's not cheap but it will absolutely change your life and is worth every penny. I can't recommend it more highly (although the person doing it is a little annoying! You have to look past that). Someone recommended it to me on Facebook and it's helped me so much with other anxiety. I genuinely didn't think it would help that much.

I am suffering badly, I’m so anxious and DS is barely sleeping and just so teary, I’ve tried calpol and neurofen and it relieves it temporarily. Any other tips?

I voted YANBU, not because I think there is anything more sinister than teething troubling your child but because given your anxiety and experiences, of course you are up tae high doh. Which is miserable for you.
Teething turns them into proper snot-monsters. Keep on alternating calpol and ibuprofen. If the baby enjoys baths, try a bath. Keep remembering to rat and drink and breathe yourself. This truly will pass.

'to eat', even. A 🐀wouldn't be particularly helpful.

sazzysazz337 · 10/01/2021 00:20

How come teething causes the runny nose? Poor little baba is so snuffly I feel awful for him.

OP posts:
Haggisfish · 10/01/2021 00:27

Because they make more drool which can then come down their nose.

AnxiousAlpaca · 10/01/2021 00:43

Hi OP I have really bad health anxiety too. I’m currently seeing a counsellor to help with that as well as other mental health issues. They gave me this to read. Maybe it’ll help? www.psychologytools.com/self-help/health-anxiety/

ParlezVousWronglais · 10/01/2021 00:46

If you do get really desperate Sertraline is really good with health anxiety. No doubt you probably want to avoid drugs but at least you know it’s an option.

Catty1720 · 10/01/2021 00:55

@sazzysazz337 my 8 month old DD is teething and showing the same symptoms the nhs website does say it’s similar symptoms to a cold. Her cheeks were so red drooling she’s unhappy doesn’t want to eat or drink. It must be so painful imagine what tooth ache is like for us. Just use the calpol as the instructions say to and lots of cuddles. If your still really worried ring a HV/GP but by the sounds of your post you know it’s ok ☺️

theThreeofWeevils · 10/01/2021 00:57

Not wanting to alarm you OP, quite the reverse, but the snot and extra dribbling can often cause a bit of diarrhoea, because the acid balance in the stomach changes. It's not a sign of anything drastic.

Catty1720 · 10/01/2021 00:59

@theThreeofWeevils i think this can make their pop and wee stink or smell differently as well can’t it?? It’s a tough old thing growing teeth!

sazzysazz337 · 10/01/2021 01:03

He had a poo earlier and it was a very odd smelling log but I assumed it was the dribble, I’ve reassured myself if he’s sick it’s dribble too as i had post nasal drip for years and it could have me absolutely retching

Thank you all for being so kind

OP posts:
Catty1720 · 10/01/2021 01:09

@sazzysazz337 yeah my DD is the same and her wee smells stronger than normal. Hope you are feeling better ☺️

sazzysazz337 · 10/01/2021 01:16

@Catty1720 it’s awful isn’t it! DS smells like a pissy old people’s home when he wakes up 🤣🤣 is she doing okay? he cut top two at 8 months and im sure that was the sickness bug fiasco and even the doctor in A&E said it probably was teething x

OP posts:
Catty1720 · 10/01/2021 01:19

@sazzysazz337 it’s gruesome isn’t it and that’s exactly it my bedroom stinks!
she’s doing ok none have broken through yet though. She just sits and grunts most of the day. I don’t have anxiety and I’m always message my mum/sisters is this normal etc so it must make the worrying even worse for you. How does something so small cause so much stress hey ☺️

sazzysazz337 · 10/01/2021 01:33

It’s awful he’s been up every hour crying, I’m gonna invest in teething powder tomorrow and maybe some diazepam 😅

OP posts:
sazzysazz337 · 10/01/2021 12:13

He’s catching up on some well earned sleep on his second nap already. Not snuffly anymore but only a bit cranky. I’m worried as he’s slept lots today. Anxiety telling me he’s not well but rationalisation telling me he’s worn out

OP posts:
sazzysazz337 · 10/01/2021 12:30

I’m so anxious today. He’s okay when he’s up - he walks about and comes to steal food. He’s just slept a lot this morning. I’m scared it’s bronch. He has had about 5 hours sleep in the night broken up, and 6 hours the night before. But today he’s already napped for around 2 hours seperately. I haven’t eaten and I feel like I’m gonna be sick every 5 minutes. I need to contact my GP tomorrow for something calming.

OP posts:
PlanDeRaccordement · 10/01/2021 12:34

Crying, pulling on the ear, congestion/runny nose and a fever are symptoms of an ear infection. If you are very worried, it can’t hurt to have a nurse or doctor take a look at his ears.

sazzysazz337 · 10/01/2021 12:37

Thankfully he hasn’t had a temperature but he’s not been sleeping properly since Friday so I’m trying to rationalise with myself that he’s just worn out and catching up
