This is my first baby I’m currently 16 weeks + 2 days pregnant Smile I’m eager and waiting for these movements to happen

I was wondering when did you feel your first baby’s movements and could you please explain what they felt like? Grin

I'd say like a washing machine going round!

I felt DD like this before my first scan. At 14 weeks my jeans were getting tight and she walloped me from inside as she didn't like it. At 16 weeks she kicked DH in the face when he talked to her right up close to my belly!

I can't remember as well with DS and I had an anterior placenta with him. I definitely felt him by 18-ish weeks though.

Godimabitch · 08/01/2021 19:58

At first I couldn't tell if it was gas but then it started getting more regular and having a pattern to it the getting stronger and stronger from 20 weeks. I'm 23 weeks now and its super strong, sometimes I have to move if baby's kicking the wrong bits!

polkadotpenguin · 08/01/2021 20:01

My first ones made me jump as they were like tiny electric zaps!

FrankButchersDickieBow · 08/01/2021 20:06

Aww how lovely. Definitely a fluttery butterfly feeling.

Until it got to 8 months and dd had a full head of hair and I was chugging bottles of pepto-bismal and having a near 10lb baby kicking my ribs, trying to get out 🤣🤣🤣

User415373 · 08/01/2021 20:07

Mine felt like twitching. Even now it's much stronger it still feels like twitching/muscle spasms to me 🤷‍♀️

gigi556 · 08/01/2021 20:10

Like popping popcorn. I felt it at 15 weeks

hellolittlebaby · 08/01/2021 20:18

"Is it gas/wind or can I feel the baby moving?"

"It might be the baby but it's probably wind"

"Hmm still hard to know"

"Ooh I bet that was the baby!"

"Yes I am pretty sure it is!"

PoppinShoppin · 08/01/2021 20:19

Like a faint internal muscle twitch, that gets stronger over the days and weeks xxx

hellolittlebaby · 08/01/2021 20:19

That was with an anterior placenta though. And I could definitely tell it was her closer to 18-20 weeks.

SnarkWeek · 08/01/2021 20:23

Like someone is strumming a guitar string inside you

PoppinShoppin · 08/01/2021 20:24

Felt only occasionally at 16/17 weeks then more regularly, definitely brought on more and more by stroking belly in circles. In the mornings most of the time it'll kick, I'll stroke it and it will kick again.. It will repeat for several times. Lovely bonding xxxx

Mumski45 · 08/01/2021 20:30

Oh @MotherToBee I Know just how you feel waiting for those first flutters and not really knowing what to expect it was only yesterday I'm sure😀.
And then all of sudden today DS1 is 15 years old.

When it happens you will know and enjoy it as it is such an amazing feeling. As the baby gets bigger you will also sometimes be able to see them move across your bump.

tulippa · 08/01/2021 20:35

Like mild wind. Thought it was just my digestive system moving things around until I went for my 20 week scan and saw DD kick at the same time I felt 'wind'. I was like 'Oh - that's what that is!'

BrowniesAreSuper · 08/01/2021 21:14

Mine felt like a heartbeat down there, so like when you're heart's beating really hard so you feel it.

JayAlfredPrufrock · 08/01/2021 21:17

Like a butterfly fluttering it’s wings. 18 weeks. Sitting at my desk. Totally took me by surprise.

Not as surprised as me, DH and the nurse were when she ‘sang’ through the listening thing.

Pity she’s not musical.

TakeMe2Insanity · 08/01/2021 21:38

Like sonar waves.

Terracottasaur · 08/01/2021 21:47

Like bubbles moving up through a water cooler

CouldItBeCake · 08/01/2021 21:52

As PP have said, it took me a really long time to feel anything the first time round - I think maybe 20 weeks. I agree fluttering is a good description. I have babies 2 and 3 in here now at 14 weeks and can occasionally feel them already Smile Congratulations to you!

Laureline · 08/01/2021 21:54

Like a small flutter
