I’ve got a 7 year old who at school is fine and seems to get on but at home is defiant and although she can sit and do some work she gets so frustrated with maths! It’s hard for me as I’m not one for maths and struggle but with English we get on with it and she seems to do it easier. Plus it doesn’t help that they work they are sending is stuff we didn’t have until we were at least 10!! It’s not really helping! She says she hasn’t even touched on it at school?

Help as honestly she can’t do anything without me helping her but homework and school she seems ok? I don’t like google classroom lol just a vent really.

I told the school she struggles at home with maths but nothing. I’ve tried everything and get tantrums.

Thanks

It's not specifically for maths but would she do a video call with her friends to do homework together ? My daughter does this with 4 of her friends ( their not all on everyday) it somehow makes it a bit more fun than working 1-1 with us ..... we are obviously sitting alongside to help as they're only 7.

Try not to transfer your frustration with Maths to your daughter, she will then see your antagonism towards Maths and consider it OK not to do it! I've never understood why it's considered acceptable to many to have difficulties with Maths but reading problems are social death. There is loads of help on the internet, I've been very impressed when my grandchildren have been working form my home.
