To consider going to a medical cannabis clinic? Has anyone done this?

I have long term chronic post traumatic stress disorder, depression and anxiety. This has a huge negative impact on my life. I also have a chronic pain condition.

I've tried -
SSRIs - help a bit but leave me with flat mood and kill my sex drive stone dead which makes me sad for the long term. Don't help my insomnia.
Mirtazipine - Help a bit but massive unhealthy weight gain despite eating normally (went from a healthy weight to obese) and reduced sex drive.

Counselling - ongoing for years but my symptoms are too severe for just counselling alone and 2 counsellors have said this.

Even at low doses these side effects happen, and the lower the dose the less they help my PTSD symptoms.

I recently found that there are a few medical cannabis clinics in the UK. All legal and above board.

I used to smoke cannabis in my 20s and I did find it helped me with mood, sleep, and pain and without any side effects. I never became a 'bum' or a 'waster' or smoked all day every day, I held a job and a full life. Haven't smoked for years though because I don't want to do anything illegal and I'm a mother nearing my 40s.

AIBU to consider trying this? The cost seems to be around £200 per month which I could afford.

Has anyone went down this route or know of anyone who has?

I've not but following if you don't mind as I too have found cannabis very helpful.

I would love to try this but can't afford it. If I could I would go for it. I guess the usual advice applies, do your due diligence and make sure it is a properly accredited clinic with real doctors! I am sure you have already done that.

I really, really hope that these clinics will do some well organised trials and data collection so that eventually medical cannabis will become an NHS treatment.
I make a very clear distinction here between properly produced and prepared medical cannabis and any old street stuff, cut with God knows what.
Last year I was privileged to visit an elderly relative (not in this country) dying at home from a particularly grim cancer, whose only medication was cannabis oil. She had a very peaceful death surrounded by her family.

Yeah they are all regulated by the care quality commission, are actual doctors etc.

I really am considering it.

I know come one who said taking cbd oil changed their whole life and outlook on life.

If you feel it's the only option left to explore for you then you owe it to yourself to explore it.

I take it for similar reasons to TBaker and it is the best pain relief I’ve found. Annoying because it makes me ‘high’ which is a bit embarrassing

MegaBeach · 12/06/2021 14:34

(I don’t like the ‘high’ so I keep it for nighttime or terrible days where I’d not be achieving much anyway…)
