To wonder how to get my baby to nap?!

Ok - third baby - still clueless.

This time I need a solution, two previous kids I could go with the flow - this time I have two other children to homeschool with high needs and I can’t feed to sleep and snuggle for an hour or two ( like I was when they were in school) or pop him in the sling (because the other two are so noisy!) so I need a way to put baby for a nap which doesn’t require endless amounts of me.

I’m literally loosing my mind between baby naps, feeding baby, trying to homeschool my y1 child and being tech support, learning support and motivation for my y4 child.

Any tips?! Baby is 5mo

Mine isn’t a dream napper. But, easiest way is in his pram. Just walk or rock around room.

Advantage being you can then move baby from room to room if you need to, or take him straight out if still asleep and you need to go somewhere with older children

Walk in the pram. Your younger ones can scoot or cycle along.

White/wave noise constantly, dark room and dummy (if baby takes one). Also huckleberry app to give guidelines for when baby should be sleepy (doesn’t always work but easier to plan a day with some times in mind)

How dark is the nap room? I know ideally you wouldn't rely on total darkness, but tbh I'd get proper blackout blinds & curtains and use darkness to encourage napping. Apparently if you can see your hand in front of your face it's too light in there.

Dr Harvey Karp's book "Baby Bliss" from Amazon saved my sanity when DS was newborn. Not sure how it'd go with a 5 month old, but it might be worth a try.

Quick Google brings up this page happiestbaby.com.au/blogs/baby/the-5-s-s-for-soothing-babies, which mentions the "Five-Ss" technique he covers in the book.

Something that worked for mine at that age was to put him in the pram with the sunshade pulled over and rock him in front of the kitchen extractor fan. But you have my sympathy, it must be really tricky.
