To ask why mocks weren’t standardised this year

Just that really why did students not all do the same papers at the same time this year

@2021vision

I must be missing something because surely schools would have been mindful of collecting as much data as possible given it was highly likely that the exams would be cancelled.

Whilst I accept some children were isolating and often on multiple occassions, this wasn't becuase they were ill, it was because they were sent home due to contact etc. They could/should have still been accessing lessons on-line or been given work to do. Being at home doesn't mean doing nothing. I'm really talking about 'A' level students here not GCSE as they are younger. I am amazed that schools have hardly any data on students, just why!

In all honesty many year 11s have missed so much there genuinely hasn’t been time

But agree data collection should have been taking place

Dd should have been doing her mocks this week, last week they were moved to the beginning of February, now nobody knows.

Dd has had targets from before sats onwards. I'm pretty sure that these would have been tracked, along with her attainment levels (above them). I trust her teachers to use all of the available data and their knowledge of her to give a fair grade, coupled with the option of taking an exam later in the year if she feels she's not happy.

Its a pandemic, its hard enough on the dc at the moment without making them feel shit about whatever they end up being awarded.

Sorry to your DD did she do many assessments in class

I'm pretty sure they've been regularly tested. She's sensible and very resilient but the uncertainties are starting to show.

Having had ds1 with straight A/A*, ds2 with results from 6s to a 3 (dyslexic), I know her abilities. She was doing better than ds1 at primary area, he went to a very high performing grammar, dd just missed the qualifying mark. Since then she is usually getting between 6 & 8 with a 3 for RE. Hates it, thinks its pointless and was asking to drop it. Bizarrely, now that she doesn't have to do the exam she is working hard at it.
I'm pretty sure she will be fine to stay at 6th form so I'm not too worried. She doesn't do great with change though.

@2021vision My DD is in year 13 and since September her school has been collecting data on her work as a back up in case exams were cancelled. So early mocks 1st week of September, so not much of a summer holiday, weekly essays timed in class and at home. Also they are expecting to hold mocks end of February. The pressure has really been constant this academic year and any small dip in grade on a 20/25 mark question has caused so much worry for the girls. I really feel sorry for all the year 13's as so many have worked flat out since September.
