Will we break the trampoline...

Buying a new trampoline for my son as we moved house recently and didn’t bring his old one with us as he was too big for it.

I’m getting him an oval one with a jump zone each end so we can use it together or he can play safely with friends (post pandemic) and I’ve seen one in stock with a maximum user weight of 120kg... added together we are more than this but individually we are way off. Will we bust the trampoline if we use it together?

Other models that have a huge max user weight are sold out until at least March. He needs one for his sensory processing disorder so I don’t want to wait months (we are managing by doing other stuff but trampolines are amazing sensory input and really help him to stay regulated). But on the other hand there’s no point buying something to come quickly that won’t be right.

Help from those that know better?
YABU: You’ll break it don’t buy it
YANBU: it’s an individual user weight you’ll be fine one each end

My friend and I bounced on ours and it was never the same again... she was 15 stone and I was about 11 .... the brackets holding the legs sheared off

We were shit faced and thought it was highly amusing. Children not so much.....!

Givemeabreak88 · 06/01/2021 09:19

I would ask the company you’re buying it from

SendMeHome · 06/01/2021 09:20

They are not usually per user - it’s usually the max weight at any one time.

Givemeabreak88 · 06/01/2021 09:20

I remember my sister letting loads of kids on her trampoline and it collapsed into next doors fence

BertieBotts · 06/01/2021 09:22

When I was a kid and nobody paid attention to safety regulations I'm sure we constantly had 6-8 kids on a trampoline at once - 2 people (even an adult sized one plus a child) is likely to be no issue.

Hollybutnoivy · 06/01/2021 09:23

Ate you sure you've converted your weights correctly?

yankeedoodledandee · 06/01/2021 09:25

If the max weight is X and you put more weight on it than X, yes, you risk breaking it.

Beautiful3 · 06/01/2021 09:28

I broke our last one by jumping on there with the children. The maximum weight is real so listen to it! Wait and get the heavy duty one.

Grin

Oh drunken evenings in with friends..... times of old!

I can see many more broken trampolines, slides, swing sets, smashed up scalextric cars etc when we get out of this 🤣

PrimeraVez · 06/01/2021 09:30

Errrr....yeah, if your combined weight exceeds the maximum weight limit, then you run a real risk of breaking it. That's why they have a weight limit.

Isadora2007 · 06/01/2021 09:35

Why can’t he bounce alone? Take turns?

AlwaysLatte · 06/01/2021 09:51

You have to get one for the maximum combined weight - that's what the limits on them are. Ours is made by Plum and can accommodate adults and teenagers on it together, 150 kg Max

helloxhristmas · 06/01/2021 09:52

Yes that's what the max weight is for.

ACupOfTeaSolvesEverything · 06/01/2021 10:01

Awesome thanks all, we will wait!
