House viewings during lockdown

Wanting to gauge opinion on this.

We are moving out of our rented flat and the agency obviously want to do viewings.

Im a shielder which they know and they want to do physical viewings and for us to be out and leave all the doors and windows open. BF is working from home and we have a young baby so this isn't really practical on a frequent basis.

Its a 1 bed flat AIBU to limit people coming in for a max of 5 mins and 2 ppl max ensuring masks and gloves safe worn?

What would you do in my situation?

I think two people max, with mask and gloves worn sounds reasonable. But maybe 10 minutes rather than 5. If someone likes it , they will want a proper look, even if it is small.

You could only do weekend viewings then you 3 go out for a couple of hours, 5 mins is not enough time 10/15 minutes isn't either really so yes I think that is unreasonable but I would keep windows open etc and the agents are already telling everyone they must have masks on etc and have been doing for ages.

Two is the legal maximum anyway - or at least it was in the last lockdown.

If you’re shielding you should say no. You’re extremely clinically vulnerable and shouldn’t put yourself at risk. Your LL needs to understand that Flowers

You don't have to allow any viewings, tell them to arrange it for when you've left

SarahAndQuack · 05/01/2021 20:33

YY, I'd just say no.

Maybe suggest a block of viewings one day when you actually want to be out? If the landlord has been helpful. Or just tell them to wait.

LividLovely · 05/01/2021 20:35

You can and should legally refuse to host viewings in rented, even pre-pandemic. Stop worrying about it and just say no.

FoxyTheFox · 05/01/2021 20:38

You have no obligation to allow viewings, you have a right to quiet enjoyment of the flat for the duration of your tenancy. Send them a polite but firm email stating that no viewings will be allowed during the pandemic.

I have a rental and we had same problem with previous tenants, instead of viewings they made a video of the property for us to show potential new tenants.

Maybe worth suggesting instead
