To ask if anybody has a link to the latest critical worker guidelines?

Am a teacher in school, we are all trying desperately to get things sorted today.

One of my colleagues (also a teacher) has been told by her children's school that she isn't allowed to send them in, despite the fact that she is a critical worker and needs to be teaching online. This is because her husband isn't a critical worker.

However, we are under the impression at our school that the new guidelines are that we can take all children of key workers, even if the other parent isn't one.

Does anybody have a link/copy of the latest guidelines to hand, please?

It doesn’t specify anything regarding one or both being key workers though. As usual it’s clear as mud!

Ah, gutted, thank you anyway!

We are in the same boat, re: finding written evidence that it only has to be one key worker parent.

Our head is adamant that those are the new rules, so my colleague should be able to send her children in to their own school, but that school is refuting it... what a pain on a busy day!

You have to minimise number of children in schools. The husband isn’t a key worker, therefore the kids can stay with him and the teacher will no doubt also be wfh. It is unacceptable to have a wider interpretation. We need all children back in school
ASAP which means any child who can stay at home MUST!

Yeah, I do understand that.

However, our school is taking children of families where there is only one key worker, as that is apparently the new guidelines. My colleague naturally wants to be able to use the same service, so that she can actually provide effective online lessons for our students.

Just wondering where on earth it is written down!

Is this of any use? Mind you it is only a newspaper article and is not "official" guidance

The paragraph headed critical workers in the guidance notes linked above is very clear that

Children with at least one parent or carer who is a critical worker can go to school or college if required.

Teaching staff are defined as critical workers in the paragraph on education so your colleagues child should be able to access a place. However, if there are issues with staffing this provision at the other school then I can see why the head might want to allocate places based on need - ie those with 2 keyworkers first. Could your head not offer a place in your school or arrange for the child to go to a hub?

Our school only allow children with both parents as keyworkers to attend
