@Skipsurvey

i suppose they were allowed at the time?
No, Tier 3 were not allowed to travel.

It's amazing how many people such as the 'journalist' in question spend their time haranguing the government, saying that restrictions aren't tight enough and then go and break those same restrictions. The pandemic isn't spreading because the restrictions weren't tight enough, it is spreading because people were ignoring them.

MrsDThomas · 05/01/2021 07:51

Heard that lady say she was in tier 3 and she was allowed to go. If thats the case where is the issue?

The government isnt really helping the situation by allowing flights in and out.

XDownwiththissortofthingX · 05/01/2021 07:53

Well perhaps if those restrictions were actually policed and enforced, people would be less inclined to be so flippant and totally ignore them.

Do you know anyone who visited a foreign country last year who, upon return, actually had anyone contact them to ensure they were actually in quarantine? Because I know of at least half-a-dozen who went abroad and were back at work, mixing with their colleagues, the day after they returned, and not a single one of them was officially busted or censured for doing so.

Seems a bit pointless to actually pass laws then do absolutely nothing to uphold them. That, to me, seems like a perfect recipe for people to just treat them with total disdain. Increasingly so as time passes and more and more realise that there is absolutely no comeback for just suiting yourself regardless.

longwayoff · 05/01/2021 08:16

0h my, not that nice tv bloke, hypocrite of the first order and upholder of the nation's morals. Him? How surprising.

Calmandmeasured1 · 05/01/2021 08:20

I think it would depend on the rules of the tier they lived in at that time (although I would think it a generally stupid thing to do even if allowed by the rules).

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 05/01/2021 08:34

Well I think less of people who do fucking stupid things, I think MUCH less of high profile people who do things that are dangerous & stupid and are likely to encourage others to think it's ok to do it, in a pandemic

BUT if they're in a position to highlight Govt inadequacies I think they should, despite being imperfect themselves.

I personally think he has A responsibility to behave online with the law, but not as much responsibility as an MP, for example.

Grenlei · 05/01/2021 08:40

They're all at it though - Antigua, Barbados, Dubai - full of low level celebs right the way down to Instasham Z listers and wannabes. All travelling from Tier 4 yet no consequences for any of them.

inquietant · 05/01/2021 08:54

If they broke a rule that's not ok.

LaceyBetty · 05/01/2021 11:12

100% I am judging him.

Quite a few people have guessed who it is Grin it just seems a bit hypocritical coming from someone who is telling everyone what to do in this pandemic Angry. I didn't see my family at Christmas!

I bet the TV Doctor isn't pleased with him😷

Biker47 · 06/01/2021 05:27

No, Tier 3 were not allowed to travel.

If it was tier 3, it was only ever guidance, not enforceable law.

Sparklingbrook · 06/01/2021 05:37

Why not say who it was to start with? Confused

AlternativePerspective · 06/01/2021 05:37

It’s not judgemental in the same way that if it was e.g. a government minister, but when you stand up in front of millions of people, shouting down government ministers for not telling you what you want, when you want to know it, when you call them to account, and go on saying how nobody should be getting together for Christmas, and then you go and do exactly what you’re telling other people not to, you are a massive hypocrite, and yes, worthy of judgement.

It would be entirely appropriate for one of his colleagues to shout him down i national television in the same way he does with other people.

Now maybe he can shut the fuck up. He’s a twat anyway.
