I thought we were Europe's crazies?

Fantastic news. Why you all think the vaccine will be the holy grail is beyond me anyway. For a mutating virus, it will be as successful or less than the flu jab which never worked either.

TrashCanBird · 04/01/2021 15:38

@Danu2021

Makes total sense that that is the figure. The oldest people, people who are overweight, have diabetes, asthma, heart problems, CF, they will all definitely want the vaccine, everybody else is going to think twice.

Why do you think "everyone else" is going to think twice?

Does no one realise that the UK is one of the most vaccine compliant countries in the world! Have a look at general vaccine statistics for Europe and have your eyes opened

JimmyTheWeed · 04/01/2021 15:51

Well the upside of this is that there will be more of the vaccine available for those who DO want it.

er, the thread’s about France, not the UK.

Hospitals can (just about) manage with the level of flu cases most winters. With most of the staff vaccinated, they also have low levels of sickness.

The current NHS crisis is high patient numbers vs low bed numbers with the addition of staff shortages.

ruabon12 · 04/01/2021 17:04

It's a fairly small sample, but given the concentrated nature of Covid cases in France, not surprised they have more not willing to be vaccinated.

FourTeaFallOut · 04/01/2021 17:39

Vaccine hesitancy in France pre dates covid.

This is a less dry read than above but with the same pre covid take away.

peapotter · 04/01/2021 18:05

I wonder what will happen when the countries with higher uptake can remove their restrictions and France still has them?

I guess they’re the placebo group in the vaccine effectiveness trial. Will be interesting to see what the stats are like in 6 months time. A bit like Sweden in the first lockdown.

Yep, can’t think why anyone would want to take a vaccine that - at the very least - has a 100% success rate in preventing serious covid.

I’m also quite sure that none of the scientists who made these vaccines will be able to change them to tackle any mutating virus (just like they can do with the flu vaccine, every single year)

All is lost, why don’t we just give up and live in a big hole.

Why is it crazy to not want a vaccine???
DazzlePaintedBattlePants · 04/01/2021 18:26

Ah, you mean the France that demanded the EU buy the French Sanofi vaccine that won’t even be ready for regulatory approvals by the end of the year at the same time they bought the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines?

Vive la France! :/

Pukkatea · 04/01/2021 18:33

France is super into homeopathy, it doesn't surprise me that it's full of antivaxers.

thereisonlyoneofme · 04/01/2021 19:44

Well hopefully we will be able to stop the French coming into the UK unless they have been tested !"
