For children OK, for adults I find them so odd. I can't understand them.

I'm always a little confused by them, are they an actual physical thing? If so what do you do with them once you've finished?
I imagine I'd end up with a collection of them gathering dust in the back of a cupboard if I weren't too lazy to do them.

I have used pinterest before to collect photos of things I liked for inspiration for my wedding or house decorating ideas. It was useful but I found it quite tiring for some reason.

I don't have a problem with the practice but personally find the name "vision board" a little too cutesy for me to say out loud and still take myself seriously. Would probably give a friend a gentle and good natured ribbing if they used the term tbf. Otherwise I would notice if someone said it but wouldn't think too much of it.

To me a “vision board” is more of an overall life style thing rather than a specific “my wedding” or “my living room” thing.

My (male) DP is having one made as part of a whole personal trainer, nutrition, mentoring program he is part of through work (we both teach in an SEMH secondary school).

I have to admit I find the idea a little.... cringey but I can see the benefit of having a visual prompt (we use them a lot at work) to keep you on track.

What's a vision board?

Is it like a mood board and you put the things you want to achieve?

That makes sense! I think I am slightly getting confused with "mood boards" as mentioned by NiceGerbil

I can see why having a visial representation of your goals would help some people.

I make one each year and hang it near my bed. I love it.

greeksalad · 04/01/2021 08:38

I make them every few years or so and there's nothing cringe about it!

What's wrong with being clear about what you want in life and putting a visual representation of it somewhere you can look at it every day?

A lot of people are very cynical and sneery when it comes to things like this but they wouldn't turn down the amazing new job or snub someone who you hit it off with who has come into your life!

I think if you still have a mind that is flexible and capable of learning new things then try to let go of self consciousness and join us manifesting our dreams! There's plenty of room on my sofa for you!

Personally I love creating yearly vision boards on Pinterest, including things I want to focus on, hobbies, goals, clothing styles I currently like. Looking back through them is always really fun and brings back memories of that period in my life.

NutHatchHQ · 04/01/2021 11:29

I thought it was cringe but did it anyways. 4 years on, I’ve nearly achieved all of my goals. Looking back, I’ve realised that they helped me crystallise an idea of what I wanted for my future, and even though it’s dusty & in the back of a cupboard now, I think that crystallisation really helped me subconsciously clarify & go for what I wanted in life.

Whether I would have achieved those goals without the board I don’t know, but it certainly was a lovely surprise when I found it in the back of the cupboard & realised I’d done it!
