To think that if they're going to close schools and tighten up restrictions they should just tell us.

It's no use telling us changes are coming soon.

We need to know now so that we can plan.

We don't need that hanging over us without knowing what or when.

Sir Mark Walcott of SAGE says "We know that a person between 12 and 16 is seven times more likely than others in a household to bring the infection into a household"

Are we really going to send our DCs back to school for just long enough to get infected because the government know it's about to close the schools but they haven't bothered to tell us?

Boris can't make decisions so he leaves it until there's no option left and he can say that alas, he has been forced into it.

I just wish they get on with it, don’t dither about and be conspicuous by your absence again Johnson and Co. feels like the longer they faff the longer it potentially has to to drag on.
I will be more angry than I already am if I send kids to school tomorrow and they close them in a few days.

Laiste · 03/01/2021 21:49

I'm gobsmacked about this.

There are people who are paid a lot of money to sit all day and think about this situation and decide what to do. WTF is going on?!

vodkaredbullgirl · 03/01/2021 21:51

I wish they would stop pussy footing about and get on with it.

20wedding19 · 03/01/2021 21:53

My DS isn't even school age and I couldn't agree with you more. I bumped into my neighbours 13 year old daughter yesterday, always such an upbeat girl...she burst into tears on me. The uncertainty is horrible on so many people on so many levels

Whatwouldscullydo · 03/01/2021 21:56

Its ok the women will just stay home and home school Hmm

We don't need to plan or worry about work places opening just as schools close , its just a bit of time taken out of our pie baking and clothes washing days why would we need any notice? To prepare the kittens and the knitting?

Dh said exactly this earlier and I have to say I wholeheartedly agree!

YANBU

To quote a previous Tory slogan, in a crisis like this we need strong and stable leadership. We have the exact opposite. A PM and government who stumble through the disasters they helped create, prioritising protecting their own interests above all else, refusing to make decisions until it’s too late

Flyingin · 03/01/2021 21:58

Piss up. Brewery. Drip drip. They actually don’t want you to plan.

piefacedClique · 03/01/2021 21:59

This feels like mid March all over again! 😭😭😭😭

PaxMalmKallax · 03/01/2021 22:13

I’m a teacher - I’ve written and rewritten my plans for this term so many times. I’ve decided not to bother any more and just do last minute planning the night before. Unprofessional and it won’t be my best work, but as I have no fucking clue what is happening from day to day I’m left with no other choice!

Calmandmeasured1 · 03/01/2021 22:31

I think that Boris Johnson has said he would like another week's statistics first before deciding whether to impose stricter restrictions.
He cannot tell you what he doesn't know himself.

Cherrysoup · 03/01/2021 22:43

I’m desperate to go to school tomorrow. I re-wrote all of my lessons for this week based on being told we’d be teaching remotely and adjusted the powerpoints so they make sense for remote teaching (I”m in charge of a subject) As teachers, we have no more clue than n9n-teachers as to what is going to happen and I wish people would stop assuming we decide to go in or not!
