Can I ask how much you pay for your cleaner and how much work do they do and the size of the home.

OP posts:
WowIlikereallyhateyou · 03/01/2021 19:51

£15ph as and when needed, however they are about to add vat so wil be nearer £18ph.

Merryoldgoat · 03/01/2021 19:51

Biggish 3 bed. Greater London.

Looking at the prices I feel like she’s not charging enough so will talk to her about upping it.

amioraminotinthis · 03/01/2021 19:53

£12 an hour. She comes for 3 hours twice a month.
She does 4 bedrooms, kitchen diner, lounge, playroom and 3 bathrooms in 3 hours and she usually finishes a bit earlier, but I'd never begrudge her that.
She honestly whizzes round like super woman and does such an amazing job.

PixellatedPixie · 03/01/2021 19:54

@Northernmummy80

£14.50 an hour for 2 hours a week. Deep cleans two bathrooms and one toilet downstairs then if there is any time left a quick wipe of the kitchen. Honestly she’s a bit slow but the standard is high so I don’t mind as it saves me doing it
This seems crazily slow! How can it take two hours to deep clean 3 bathrooms? I’m presuming the bathrooms aren’t massive with multiple showers, baths etc?
ivegotthisyeah · 03/01/2021 19:56

@hotchoco I'm in North Yorkshire friend has a cleaning business charges £12.50 p/h with own products. £20 is a lot!!!!

Chickydoo · 03/01/2021 19:57

£60 for 4 hrs once a fortnight

Toomanycats99 · 03/01/2021 20:00

I pay £12ph for two cleaners for 2 hours once a fortnight. So £48 per fortnight in all.

3 bed mid terrace house.

polkadotpixie · 03/01/2021 20:00

2 hours a fortnight
£15/h
3 bedroom house
Loughbrough, Leics

He is a machine though, my old cleaner was cheaper but nowhere near as good!

ThirtyTwo1988 · 03/01/2021 20:17

Wow, £12 ph for two cleaners is super cheap!

Toomanycats99 · 03/01/2021 20:22

@ThirtyTwo1988

That's per hour per cleaner! So £12 x 2 people x 2 hours.

UsernameSaved · 03/01/2021 20:29

@mowglika

£10 an hour for 3 hours and she does a 4 bedroom house - hoovering, mopping, dusting and 3 bathroom/toilets. She is a stickler for right angles as well, I love her Smile
Not enough to pay her a living wage though

If you take the minimum wage and add on what holiday pay would be (unless you also pay holiday pay) then she is below the NMW

AhNowTed · 03/01/2021 20:30

£80 once a fortnight.

4 beds
2 x baths
1 x Wc
Kitchen
Living room
Hoovers and mops all floors
Changes bedding on rotation

Does a fantastic job. Been with us 20 years.

Berkshire.

Works out around £16/hr but we pay for the job, not the time.

UsernameSaved · 03/01/2021 20:38

The NMW is £8.72

Self employed people can work for less but get no holiday or sick pay.

Allowing for 28 days holiday including the bank holidays- that leaves 132 non working days and 233 working days.

Not even considering travel between jobs. Let say 7 chargeable hours a day at £10 an hour that is £16,310 a year, at 8 chargeable hours it is £18,610

The NMW is £8.72 but you need to allow for holidays.

So £10 an hour is in fact £8.96 an hour or 24p above the NMW.

So maybe before gloating about how cheap your cleaner is think about being an ethical commissioner.

Snally82 · 03/01/2021 20:43

£9/hr - 3 hours each visit. I write a list each time so work varies. Always bathrooms, kitchen Ams hard floors though.

Location - Hampshire

YakkityYakYakYak · 03/01/2021 20:46

£15 per hour and I pay for a 2 hourly clean once per fortnight. They do floors, clean kitchen, bathrooms, bins, dusting, make beds, etc.

That’s for a relatively small 3 bed semi in the south west.

So well less than the NMW after allowing for the minimum of 28 day holidays including bank holidays.

Honestly that is not enough. This person cleans your house for £27.

Do you not even round it up to 30?

Hampshire an all.

BathTangle · 03/01/2021 21:13

£15 per hour for 4 hours once a week. She provides her own products. Cleans 4/5 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms + downstairs loo. Sitting room and snug, cleans kitchen and mops floor. South East.

OverByYer · 03/01/2021 21:19

I pay mine £30 every week for 2 hrs.
I have 4 bed / 2 bath house.
She does kitchen/ bathrooms / mops floors / hoover small through / dusts

I tidy, but frees up my weekend

hibbledibble · 03/01/2021 21:25

I pay £40 for 3 hours. 4/5 bedroom house, but not all of it is done every week.

£20 an hour is far too much

Whammyyammy · 03/01/2021 21:28

We paid ours £15ph, just gone up to £16 in 2021

Also shocked at this. How does it take 2 hours to clean 2 bathrooms and a toilet?

I only have one although it's pretty big, it took me 15 mins today to hoover and clean the toilet (yes, with a loo brush), sink, shower, mirrors and quick wipe of the cupboards. Mop at the end.

A downstairs toilet would be 5 minutes tops. Clean toilet and wipe sink, you even have time to dust in those 5 mins.

I'd expect much more than two bathrooms and a downstairs loo in 2h. That can all be easily done within 45 minutes.

irregularegular · 03/01/2021 21:32

£15 an hour. 2 of them for 2 hours. Through a small company. South East. Seems to be the golng rate round here now.

KimchiLaLa · 03/01/2021 21:32

£12 ph, and then some extra for Christmas. Every other week.
