How long is reasonable to be bloody banging for?!

I suspect I am being unreasonable, I totally get it's the day time and noise is to be expected sometimes but oh my god I'm losing my mind.

I am so poorly at the moment (not Covid but suspect getting over the tail end of the flu) and j can't get any proper rest at all because of my neighbours.

I don't know what the hell they are doing but all day for the past 4 days has been CONSTANT and I mean CONSTANT bang bang bang bang on the walls. Literally it will start at 8am and go on until 7pm. It doesn't even sound like normal work, it's like someone is tapping a picture in the wall with a hammer....ALL DAY.

I am so fed up of it now 😖

I don't know whether to say anything because I get it's not their problem I'm ill and need to rest and it's the daytime so really when else can they do whatever it is they are doing but my god I am so tired, I just want to sleep. I can cope with general neighbour noise but this is like someone is the next room from me just banging on the walls, it doesn't seem to matter which room of my house I'm in!
@Lockheart

And how do you know they're banging about and it's not e.g. the pipes?

Get the facts straight before you start accusing someone of something.

Nope. I'll be reporting it to the council.

And if it's noisy PIPES, it wouldn't conveniently stop for 13 hours of the day. Don't be so naive, and quit trying to talk down to me and tell me what to do. Who do you think you are?
It would if the heating was turned off overnight. That's how pipes work. Your use of naïve is more than a little ironic.

Cherrysoup · 03/01/2021 23:24

Chill, peeps!

If it’s pipes, it may be that they need to replace the ballcock in the loft water tank. This happened in a house we bought, constant knocking and a really simply fix. Drove us nuts til we found out what it was.

SoupDragon · 03/01/2021 23:28

Report to the council? Telling them to shut up?

Whatever happened to having a civil conversation with people?

Girlyracer · 03/01/2021 23:36

They'll be putting up that fake moulding on all the walls, everyone and his dog look to be doing it on Insta. Confused

@NiceGerbil

Yes I thought it was shagging as well Grin
Me too.
MyAnacondaMight · 03/01/2021 23:54

Any chance somebody is hurt and banging to try to get your attention? Even if not, that could be your excuse for going round to check.

CorianderBee · 04/01/2021 00:09

That must be awful when I'll but sadly people are allowed to do DIY in their homes between reasonable hours.

Must be frustrating though - my colleague has been plagued by DIYers for months and she's been close to a break down at points.

People usually use glue for that as it avoids drill holes in the faux panelling

Another thread title that promised so much, but delivered so little.

Chloemol · 04/01/2021 00:37

Just bang hard on the wall a few times

TeachesOfPeaches · 04/01/2021 00:39

There was a woman who died after getting locked in a cupboard at a holiday let. The neighbours could hear the constant banging for days but nobody went over to check on her. I would speak to the neighbour to see if everything was ok.
