AIBU to ask which Panasonic Breadmaker?

I bought a cheap Argos breadmaker during lockdown and the bread is horrible. And the loaves are tiny.

Everyone says get a Panasonic- but there are loads of models.

AIBU to ask WHICH PANASONIC?
Please recommend or reject specific models.

I want:
Decent , tasty bread, including brown bread

A decent sized loaf, that will feed 5 of us.

Please don't recommend I do it by hand - I just don't have the time.

Thank you
ps I'm thinking the SD 2511 model

And it's just right for lunchtime.

The instructions have you put yeast in first and salt on last, so they're not touching. If any salt does dissolve, it's not enough to be detrimental. If anything a loaf made using the timer tends to come out better than one made immediately, as some of the flour has had a good soak.

Love our Panasonic, on my second and would get a third if this breaks. I time it to be ready just before bed and then it's fresh and ready to cut in the morning.
For our regular bread we do a medium loaf 5050 wholemeal / white recipe in the booklet. I also make enriched rolls frequently, with egg and milk in the dough, plus lots of pizza.

@Ichangedmynameonce
My old one didn’t have a yeast dispenser, new one does. As long as you put yeast in first then all the dry ingredients with water last there is no need for a yeast dispenser at all.

@Ichangedmynameonce

sorry to ask another question- its seems that only 1 or 2 models have a separate yeast dispenser.

my plan is to put the bread on time overnight- is a yeast dispenser essential for this?

Thank you Smile

No - mine doesn't have anything fancy like that.

You just don't want the yeast to be activated before your ready to start the bread making itself. Put the yeast in first and cover with the other dry ingredients. The liquid goes in last and is kept more or less away from the yeast by the flour

Haffiana · 07/01/2021 10:28

Yeast dispenser is completely unnecessary.

Raisin dispenser is not vital but definitely useful.

Hi, I have just bought a Panasonic bread machine. When the bread is ready do you take it straight out? And how long would you leave it before you cut into it? My loaf looked good this morning but collapsed as I cut into it. I assume because it was still warm? Thanks

SturminsterNewton · 26/09/2021 13:38

Turn it out and put it on a wire rack once finished. Leave it until it's cooled, then it cuts a lot easier. That's if you can resist the warm loaf; I often tear into it with stacks of butter Blush

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 26/09/2021 14:03

I bought one in April ( Panasonic SD ZB2502)
I used ao.com with a BlueLight discount

Bloody brilliant
I've only had a failure with a pack of Allinsons flour - pizza dough and loaf didn't work till I twigged
I use Sainsbury flour and Hovis yeast

Sometimes make a 50:50
Cinnamon bun dough (bake in oven)
Pizza dough to bake every weekend

DS was you can get a loaf for 50p but deae DS what type of loaf . Not freshly baked deliciousness .
I do an overnight loaf every couple of days , it's still warm in the morning but fine to slice
Straight out the baker is impossible !

SturminsterNewton · 26/09/2021 16:46

I love mine for fancy loaves - walnut and cranberry, honey and sunflower seed etc. They can cost pennies more than a plain loaf but are 4 quid in the local posh baker's.

Must say I found the sourdough a little underwhelming, I may try again.

There are so many to choose from. Panosonic seems to be the best - which one though?
