To ask how to sell all my clothes v quickly?

Very weird thread I know, but I have so many clothes that I don't need anymore (mostly lovely, they just don't fit as I've had a bit of a weight gain).

Normally I'd send them to a charity shop but (selfishly) I'd like to receive a bit of money so I can buy clothes that fit and look nice. I usually sell on eBay but it's usually a pittance as there's so much choice, and it's a bit of a faff. I've looked on Depop and Vinted, but they both require being slim and aesthetically pleasing which I'm not especially comfortable with Grin.

I know this is a bit odd, but MN is usually a source of very good suggestions so I was curious as to if anyone has any ideas?

They're mostly size 8-12 (some 14s) if that changes anything!

Facebook Marketplace.

I don't have a Facebook account, would that be an issue?
I know very little about FBM, honestly!

Yeah you would but you can have a private one and still use it so you don't need to post anything on to FB.

For those of you who have used Vinted, is it any good? I’m planning a bit of a sale too.

Ebay gets far better prices than FBk marketplace (for clothing).

Advanced Search for your best items & see what prices others reached with specific single items.

Don't bother with anything that got less than £5 including postage.

List your item for Buy-It_now at a 'typical' previous sold price, plus £5, including postage.

There is a low chance of getting a lot of money back, especially if you have bundles, but see what you find.

I recently started using Vinted and love it so far! You don't have to wear the clothes to take pictures of them I don't I just display them to make them look nice 🙂

I think I need to take a Masterclass in "making things look nice" tbh - I have a shitty iPhone and very little natural light! Grin

Do you have any tips?

I use Depop and have sold lots!

  • Clothing on hanger against plain wall/laid out flat on a plain bedsheet or whatever
  • Daylight is best, but if not then a bright lamp aimed (from 2m away, not too close) at the item
  • Iron it! I know it’s a silly thing when I will wash and iron the item myself after receiving it, but it makes such a difference browsing eBay and choosing between a thumbnail wrinkled top and one of a nicely prepped top.
  • photos of front, back, brand tag and the sizing tag, plus closeups of any details or damage

Sorry to derail, but I have never heard of Vinted or Depop. What’s the fees like?

CeeceeBloomingdale · 02/01/2021 19:03

I buy from Depop. I never buy from other sites. Ebay and Facebook seem too much hassle.

Have you tried selling bundles of clothes on eBay with a Buy-it-Now or Best Offer? These usually sell much better than individual items, and you can set the price. Make certain you offer to post, to increase your chance of a sale, and use a courier service to keep the cost down. Good luck!
