I'm doing the age old sin of posting for traffic I apologise.

But I need some wisdom please to help a stubborn burn I have!

Did this a week or so ago now and it's not getting better (worse in fact) and is now very very sore and angry feeling.

Anyone have any suggestions?

That needs medical attention.

ImNotWhoYouThinkIam · 01/01/2021 01:33

If its not getting better you need to get it seen. I had some nasty burns on my fingers in the summer. But I had them dressed in a and e and then had to see the nurse weekly to have them re dressed and lanced. Envy

OuchAndOuchSomeMore · 01/01/2021 01:36

Gosh really? 😖 Cropped the picture so could get a better look but it's not actually very big and is on my finger.

Id get that looked at, maybe go to pharmacist. Do you have any previous pics? Manuka honey is good however i believe current thinking is not to use it as it can dehydrate the area.

TheoriginalLEM · 01/01/2021 01:37

Oh, its on your finger - put some honey on it and keep it clean. Ouch though

Soak it in salt water

Cabinfever10 · 01/01/2021 01:41

Please don't put honey on that it looks quite bad and looks like it needs antibiotics especially if it is getting worse

bitheby · 01/01/2021 01:47

Lavender oil works wonders on burns in my experience but if you say this on MN, you get massively piled on and frogmarched off the boards.

DeRigueurMortis · 01/01/2021 01:51

It might be small but it looks very deep.

I think you need to get it checked out by a HCP rather than hoping home cures might work.

BlueThistles · 01/01/2021 01:52

Oooft that is a sore one OP... get it checked out ... don't delay 🌺

Thechase · 01/01/2021 01:53

Nip to the chemist and ask their advice

maccaroni · 01/01/2021 01:56

Go and get it seen. My daughter had a burn on her palm and they dressed it. Under the dressing they put a special silver burns cream which worked like magic.

OuchAndOuchSomeMore · 01/01/2021 01:57

Damn okay. I'll nip into the pharmacy when their open and see what they think!

Do I have to admit how I did it? Or can I make up something that sounds better than trying to heat up profiteroles in an unmicrowavable dish??

That looks like it needs medical treatment.

For the future get some of these. I always keep some in the kitchen. If you use plenty of cold water on a kitchen burn ( I mean keep it under running water or even just dipped in a bowl of cold water for 15-20 mins) then dress with one of these as soon as possible, it can sometimes help to prevent burn getting as bad as yours

As it begins to heal, put Bio Oil on it. It's amazing.

If they ask how you did it, then say, but they might not ask. I'm sure they've heard far, far worse than someone needing profiteroles and burning their finger 😅

Aloe Vera gel is good for burns, it's what I always use. Please don't use things like essential oils. Hope it gets better soon

Janeaustensquill · 01/01/2021 02:15

A good remedy for burns is cold tea applied immediately. Soak cotton wool in tea then attach it to the burnt area with a plaster, medical tape etc. Really helps. Didn’t have cotton wool to hand so strapped a cold, used teabag to my daughter’s wrist when she scalded it this Xmas. Took the pain out quickly and no mark there in the morning.

Graphista · 01/01/2021 03:05

Get it looked at that needs proper medical attention

Whoever you speak to they have heard MUCH worse and more daft stories than that one! Trust me!(ex hcp) a few of those stories are mine Blush

That's really nothing that one won't even raise an eyebrow

Once it starts healing aloe gel is amazing stuff my dd and I are both total klutzes for different reasons and I always have gel in as a result it's soothing and apparently has magical scar prevention properties - but that looks potentially infected and that needs dealt with first.

I had a large nasty burn on my foot a few years back from a kitchen mishap and within weeks it looked totally back to normal not even pigmentation differences, another burn I did years ago before I knew of aloe gel was small but has left a badly discoloured and different texture scar.

But yes that needs proper sorting out first

Youtrustthefridge · 01/01/2021 03:11

Do you heat profiteroles? I thought you were supposed to eat them cold?

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 01/01/2021 03:13

One really bizarre thing I came across many years ago, actually as a sunburn remedy, but it may stop pain and itching until you get to pharmacy.
Dip lettuce leaves in boiled water just for a second so that they go limp
Cover the burn with the lettuce leaf

I know it sounds weird, but it did work for sunburn

Just googled - it is a thing - this article has other remedies too

Paw paw gel off Amazon does wonders

DBML · 01/01/2021 03:26

Acriflex.

You can buy it off Amazon or get it in a pharmacy.

It helps burns heal, it prevents infection and it reduces pain.

I make cakes, so end up with burns all over my arms. I discovered this cream about 5 years ago and it was a godsend. It’s especially made for wounds including burns. It’s also very cheap.

Aloe Vera is fantastic for burns, it's the only thing I'll use. You do need to get it checked though as it could be infected, it shouldn't be getting worse.
