TB vaccination scar going raised

Hey so I got vaccinated against tb back in the 80s. Had a big weeping crevice etc at the time, think that's normal. Today I noticed a lump on my arm and it's my vaccination scar swelling. Should I be worried? It's 35 years since I had the jab.

Mine does this only when I get suburn. I would call a gp tomorrow if there is no obvious cause like the sunburn ir scratch. Is it painful?

Call your GP. It was the first sign (old scars raising, getting warm) for an immune issue for me

Inthenetto · 30/12/2020 19:41

Oh Christ really? That doesn't sound good. Are you ok now?

Call your family physician.

@SchrodingersImmigrant no it's not painful. Or itchy. I just noticed that it was a lump when I run my hand over it. Looking at it, it is pink.

Yeah. I would call. It's odd if there is no outside trigger

It can be a sign of Kawasaki disease in kids so I wonder if it can happen because of other viruses?
I've had it before in my BCG scar too and never really thought much about it at the time.

Inthenetto · 30/12/2020 20:08

Pretty sure I don't have Kawasaki disease.

So you've had this previously and it's what, gone away, hasn't been an issue?

Also, I've got other scars. Just looking down, I've got keyhole at my belly button, c section from kids, vertical laparotomy from big cyst, they're all ok. It's just this weird thing on my arm.

Yeah it just went away after about 2 weeks. I didn't go to the doctors.
It was itchy and raised.

Initially sarcoidosis popped into mind. I’d probably get an appointment with the GP.

I used to give BCGs and a GP rang me about her scar did the same thing. I referred her to respiratory consultant after chatting to him for advice, he said this is what they are supposed to do when infected, I don't know what the outcome was as the GP was not my patient and it was more a professional curtesy me getting advice from the consultant.
He did say it was unusual but not unheard of for an old scar do this I think hers was about 30 years old and she had been working in a refuge centre a few weeks before.
