Why do people write this shit?
I know IA(probably)BU to even give it a second thought but it really irritates me. Why not stop at I have 2 dogs and 1 cat?

Selling site:
'lovely dress, 100% cotton, size 10, in really good condition.
I have 2 dogs and 1 cat but they don't wear my clothes
Price includes postage'

Because on most selling sites you have to say if you own any animals, I think this is just a way of saying that you do own animals but they don't go anywhere near your bags/shoes/clothing ( delete as applicable )

I sell and buy a lot of high end bags and always have to include that I have dogs and cats.

MalbecIsMyOne · 30/12/2020 17:37

Presume someone is trying to be funny saying “pet friendly house” Hmm

SantasBritchesSpelleas · 30/12/2020 17:39

Yes, it's a sardonic way of saying the clothes won't be covered in cat fluff if you buy them.

Irrelevant to me - however clean they were on arrival at my house, they'd be covered in cat fluff within 5 five minutes!

MrsFluffyMuff · 30/12/2020 17:40

Ahh I see. YANBU OP

Plonque · 30/12/2020 17:41

It's just an attempt at comedy. Meh.

Why not stop at 'I have 2 dogs and 1 cat'? I would still buy...and wash the stuff when it got to me. By saying 'they don't wear my clothes' I think they are saying 'I have to tell you about my pets but shouldn't have to'.

I know it's U to be this irrationally annoyed!

Allergy sufferers maybe?

I prefer clean non hairy stuff, but it isn’t a matter of life and death. I guess some people have sufficiently bad allergies that even clean items from a home with pets might be an issue. So it would be a way of saying item is going to be clean but not necessarily allergen free?

MrsToothyBitch · 30/12/2020 18:25

Typo for "tear"? My cat has an errant hooky claw and occasionally gets stuck on us!

Either that or a badly worded hint that animal floof isn't a problem.

LuckyNumberThirteen · 30/12/2020 18:50

This happens a lot in a shoe group I'm in (Irregular Choice).

They're trying to be funny but it's been done to death.

WeirdAndPissedOff · 30/12/2020 18:55

Our cats don't wear our clothes, but they do lay on them, sleep in the washing basket, and drag them off the clothes horse/radiator onto the floor when stressed.

As pp said it's just an attempt at humour, but I would put less stock in that description than if they simply said something like "we have pets but clothes are thoroughly washed and pet hair free).
