I’m in a tier 2 area SAHM

I’m concerned about coronavirus without being neurotic (I don’t think so anyway 😂)

We’ve done all of the hols without seeing anybody, even outside. Trying to do it properly etc.

I was wondering about letting my kids go back a week later than their classes? This way they will probably dodge anybody who unwittingly turns up with coronavirus and without a test. We would probably all dodge any isolation requirements too.

The reason I’m being so careful is I have autoimmune diseases. And 30 years ago I had a terrible overreaction to glandular fever which ended up in years of fatigue. I don’t want any of us to catch it because I think I would be likely to have a long COVID scenario.

It’s a private school so nobody will give a shit anyway. Thoughts?

The virus will still be here the week after its a risk sending them in at all. You can catch it anytime somebody may well catch it the weekend before you dc goes back an takes it to school unknowingly. Their is always the risk whenever you decide to send them in.

I'm not saying dont do it, I just think you may need to plan for more than 1 week.

TramaDollface · 30/12/2020 23:47

You know what, you’re all totally right, a week wouldn’t be enough to dodge a surge anyway I wouldn’t keep them off longer than a week because that would be ridiculous.

Also; I suspect that they may close soon enough anyway.

I was going to be upfront with the school and explain why - they’ve made it clear that they trust parents to make their own decisions and those who took children out prior to lockdown in March were handed logins and books etc and had no problem.

I’m finding the whole situation alarming and it’s hard to not have knee jerk reactions at the moment

I think I would personally make the judgement on how many cases there are in your area.

I was relatively happy to send my children in before the Christmas break but our level
In down has shot up to just over 400 in 100,000 and I’m not so comfortable about it now as I know it’s just going to climb higher

CoffeeCreamandSugar · 31/12/2020 00:36

Sorry, ignore the random ‘in’ and ‘down’ that autocorrect has for some reason inserted Grin

Do you still get the EWO involved with private schools?

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 31/12/2020 00:42

Private school? Do what you want as long as you are paying surely?

CoffeeCreamandSugar · 31/12/2020 00:44

Ahh. I didn’t see that it was a Private school. Do whatever you feel is right in that case!

PandemicPavolova · 31/12/2020 00:46

With private yes you are in control!.. There is no way I'm sending my dd back into this dangerous situation.

Op did yiu see Dr van tam today? He couldn't have been more serious and worried.
