Bin bags are rubbish what are the best

ParlezVousWronglais · 30/12/2020 08:41

All bin bags are now thin and tear.

I used to get my black bin bags from Clas Ohlson but they closed and you can’t order them in the U.K. I’m decluttering and need bags for household stuff.

Other than builders rubble sacks does anyone have any good recommendations for where to get proper strong black bin bags please?

Do you get any charity bags through the door?

I use them for general rubbish. They work fine and save chucking the charity bag away.

BringBackDoves · 30/12/2020 09:07

Can you go to a Costco? Theirs are very strong (and obvs you get about ten thousand at a time Grin)

Winterfellismyhome · 30/12/2020 09:08

We use the kirkland extra large from
Costco which are great

Wtfdidwedo · 30/12/2020 09:10

We use rubble sacks after similarly using Clas Ohlsen. I bloody loved that shop.

skippetyskoo · 30/12/2020 09:10

I order garden refuse sacks from Tesco. They are more expensive but much thicker!

CrotchBurn · 30/12/2020 09:13

Are you trying to dispose of a body or something? Buy the most expensive ones in the shop, case closed 🤷‍♀️

Trollsinthedungeon · 30/12/2020 09:15

M&S wheels bin bags, £4 for a roll they're huge, nearly as thick as rubble bag but not quite, and lemon scented a bit unnecessary but whatever!

We moved house in March and used these to move clothes etc, absolutely rammed them full and non broke

PieInTheSky71 · 30/12/2020 09:16

Costco.

CherryRoulade · 30/12/2020 09:16

Really odd but you have to smell bin bags to find the better ones.Smell empty, that is. Higher quality ones have a sort of freshly mowed grass smell underlying the plastic smell.

Lilac95 · 30/12/2020 09:16

I use garden sacks from Sainsburys, huge and much thicker

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 30/12/2020 09:17

Bacofoil bin bags are amazing!

Ok thanks have bought some. Will see how they go. They seem strong they’d better be for 4 quid bloody hell!

Lol no. Clearing out loads of old stuff, sharp-ish things like hardbacked books (too knackered for charity), broken cd cases, plastic coat hangers etc.

I find it only takes a few of those things in a bag and they sabotage the whole thing.

Thanks all. Will try the m&s ones and if needed I do have a friend with a Costco card.

We get ours from Aldi, the ones with the yellow handles you pull out. They're cheap but strong.

JustMarriedBecca · 30/12/2020 14:11

Aldi garden waste bags here. Heavy duty. Yellow handles.

LemonSquirtInTheEyeOfLife · 30/12/2020 14:12

Visqueen. Did a product test of them on MN several years ago. Have bought them ever since! Grin

I was similarly infuriated by rubbish bin bags, just like you, so I looked online and came across a company called Polybags Ltd. Their pricing structure means it makes a lot more sense to buy in bulk if you're able to do so and have a free corner of a shed or similar. They come folded over in boxes rather than on a roll.

Their medium duty bags are really strong - you could two-thirds fill one with hardback books and it wouldn't break from the weight - if you could lift it! We bought five boxes of 200 in 2014 (checking back in my emails!) and are coming up to needing to order more now. It's a bit dearer than supermarket ones - and obviously you have to pay upfront for at least 200 - but you never have to double-bag, worry about the bottom falling out or tearing (unless there's something very sharp in there). Once we have the funds available, I'm going to place an order and stock up again for the next few years!

YourWurstNightmare · 30/12/2020 14:20

Brabantia Bin Liners, Size H. I hate how expensive they are but they bloody work.

Coughsyrupsucks · 30/12/2020 14:30

Kirkland Costco ones are amazing.

Interesting thanks WeBuilt

And thanks for the Aldi suggestions.

Brabantia is getting a bit posh for me lol.

Do you not have wheelie bins? If it’s clean rubbish it can go straight in the bin - no real need to bag it.

Nat6999 · 01/01/2021 00:56

Rubble sacks, they hold loads, are very tough as well.

Literallynoidea · 01/01/2021 01:02

I get mine from Lakeland and they're great

Holothane · 01/01/2021 01:04

I buy mine from Screwfix 20 for 100 they are pretty good, they last ages too will be ordering another lot next week.
