Sick & lethargic every 6/8 weeks

Wondering if anyone has been in same situation, roughly every 6/8 weeks I feel totally ill, feel so nauseous and drained, gets worse as the day goes on. Had blood tests done, all clear, used to suffer from uti/kidney infections that had similar symptoms but last few times I have felt like this my urine etc has came back clear so must be something else! Doctor says possibly stress related?

But why does this keep happening?

I feel so drained with it! I have a dd (6) and feel I have no energy to do as much fun things with her as I would like when I'm feeling so ill. Lasts for roughly about a week then goes away again.

Totally fed up with it all now, doctor doesn't seem to know what it could be, she has given me anti sickness tablets which sometimes help with the feeling but not always. Feel like I could just go to sleep and not wake up until it passes!

Not physically being sick just feel so sick all day and so drained, exhausted all day then can't sleep at night!

Has anyone experienced anything similar? Seriously considering paying private to try and get some answers because this feeling is horrible, it's like a terribly bad hangover and I don't even drink!

Aibu to have just had enough??

@StormsDontLastForever IMO you need to eliminate one thing at a time.

Don't give up contraception and food etc as you won't know the "culprit" if that makes sense?

I once went out with a guy who had a damaged spleen. He used to be ill/sick every 7 weeks or so and have to take antibiotics to ward off infections that his spleen could no longer fight. Just a thought.

It's really interesting to hear your symptoms, I'd never have linked it to anxiety, but it's possible. This has been a very stressful year!

Definitely a travel/morning sickness which gets worse as the day goes on. Hadn't really linked it to my diet either. I think I've been burying my head in the sand.

Would be interested to see if you find a cause for it.

When you had your blood tests were your iron level and B12 levels checked? I suffered from similar symptoms - it turned out I had a duodenal ulcer that would randomly cause large internal bleeds. It made me massively anemic but then as I take supplements and eat an iron rich diet my levels would build up again until my next bleed. It took bloody years for it to be diagnosed then a few weeks on Omeprazole and I was fine.

I've had this in the past and it was connected to ovarian cysts.

If you're prone to utis I'd look into embedded infection.

@StormsDontLastForever Thanks, I really hope you do too. It’s horrible isn’t it? Really draining.

AndcalloffChristmas · 30/12/2020 00:56

Morning sickness is what mine reminds me of too!

Whateverimgettingcheesefries · 30/12/2020 01:01

I get this each month leading up to and including when I’m on my period. It started when I came off contraception. Constant feeling of nausea for 5-7 days each month and I am actually sick once or twice. All bloods are normal so I’m putting it down to some kind of hormonal thing. It’s very odd though. Hope you can get some answers.

The other thing you could consider is migraines. I get migraines without any pain but with real dizziness or fuzzy headedness and feel sick. When I get them all I can do to shift it is drink a big glass of water, take paracetamol and go to sleep

NastyBlouse · 30/12/2020 09:33

My brother gets this. He’s 36, very fit otherwise. With him it’s 100% stress-related. Apparently the body ‘stores’ unresolved anxiety and releases it in the form of physical symptoms. So he will feel the physical symptoms even when he’s not feeling actively anxious at that moment in time.

Definitely worth another GP chat, everyone’s body is unique etc. But long-term stress/anxiety sprang to mind as soon as I read your OP.

AndcalloffChristmas · 30/12/2020 10:45

It’s just awful because if you’re stressed it’s probably when you’ve got a lot on, and it’s like your body working against you to make it even harder!
