To remind people children live in care homes, not just older people or those with disabilities

Just that really. So many threads about how Covid is affecting older people who haven't seen family, people who haven't been able to visit relatives, and people worried about working in schools or care homes (for older people). Children living in homes have had their lives hugely impacted upon by Covid, family visits have been restricted, home contact impacted upon, staff shortages due to staff having to self isolate etc. Staff are also not to wear PPE leaving them vulnerable to catching the virus, zero social distancing, leaving some very worried about passing the virus to their own families. It feels like kids in care are being forgotten about again as I've not seen one news article about it, yet lots of airtime about older peoples homes, hospitals, and children in school

A friend of my dds had a breakdown after having her baby back in March. She was sectioned for 7 weeks then had to wait months to see her baby.

By the time she saw him he was crawling, she didn't know him. Or him her. She hasn't even touched her babies skin, all visits are done in full, PPE. I honestly don't think she'll ever get him back, the trauma will be too much for both of them and the situation is having a massive, negative impact on her already fragile mental health.

@cansu

OP is talking about looked after children in homes, not care homes.

@cansu we're in the same situation with my dd and she's been home all week.

We were initially given a very bleak (( and traumatic )) itinerary for Christmas which consisted of not even a day but as it stands for DD to come home we had to be tested then isolate then DD has to test before going back.

cansu - so an adult in a care home not a child in a children's home. I get its hard for everyone, but it doesn't help to quote inaccurate guidance.
