To wonder why they invite people for a smear six months before they actually turn 25

Ds1 girlfriend has just got her smear test invite. She’s not 25 till June so was quite surprised to receive it a whole six months before her actual birthday.

@Tellmelies65 It's the year in which you are 25 that you will receive the letter inviting you for a smear. Not on your 25th birthday! And I also think it should be 20, (as a few others suggested.)

Re what @Aimee1987 said, they're deluded if they assume that people won't start having sex til their late teens. Some start at 13-14 years old. As I said, I think smear tests should start at 20 - or even 18.

Not magically, scientifically. Research shows that under 25s outcomes from smear testing aren’t any better than if they aren’t tested.

To answer the OP. To give people time to make the appointment, sometimes the wait is a few months.
