Has anyone managed to get the tree back into its fucking box?

Or am I seriously lacking my hand/eye co-ordination & motor skills. I can not, for the absolute life of me squish the cunt back into its box. I have bought the long plastic storage boxes - the lid pops off. I have even tried zip ties to squish the branches together - I didn't have enough.

Does anyone have a genius way to put all this shit back until next year?? My lights are tangled with my bead rope, my baubles have lost their strings and there is always, always a tightening key from the base of the tree missing which means I have to search through bags and boxes of glittery crap before I can start anything

Anyone? I have given up and I'm now drinking a gin but I really want this Christmassy shite out of my living room before new year Sad

Buy yourself a pop up tree for next year .Your future self will thank you.

ItsAHardKn0ckLife1 · 28/12/2020 20:38

Yes I did manage after much struggle. Finally got the box closed, turned around to see the fucking base/stand left in middle of floor

IliveonCoffee · 28/12/2020 20:38

You really have to take your time...fold in every branch you originally fluffed up. Put one big bit in and lay all the little branches in the crevices before you put the next big bit in.

Failing that, get a new box

Michaelbaubles · 28/12/2020 20:40

One mine the individual branches come off; I take off one “layer” of branches at a time, I fluff them and then tie them together tightly in a bundle, squashing as I go. Repeat for all of the layers and then you can usually get them all in the box, which I also tie shut. It makes putting it up really easy, too.

Jumbo Christmas tree bag is the answer. Amazon have them

LouHotel · 28/12/2020 20:42

Check your local aldi (amazon) for a tree bag. Picked one up last year for less than 15, worth it.

Buzzer3555 · 28/12/2020 20:45

Costco bin bags...brilliant they saved me from throwing the flipping tree away. Don't even try getting it back in the box. Life is too short

Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese · 28/12/2020 20:47

I put each branch in alternately so of I put one in hook towards the top end the next one has the hook pointing to the bottom. I have found the box stays closed if I put the stand in the decoration tub.

Bargebill19 · 28/12/2020 20:51

Yep - the box in question is also known as a skip.

isthismylifenow · 28/12/2020 20:52

I use an old 20kg dog food bag. Well 2 bags and my tree is in 3 parts. It never went back into its original box and I could not be bothered with that fight.

jaffacakefan · 28/12/2020 20:53

Or just pop the tree back in the loft in its state of entirety! 👍🏻

whoamongstus · 28/12/2020 20:59

Shove hard, kneel to keep closed, gaffer tape the fucker up.

TodgerStrunk · 28/12/2020 20:59

You can tell the age of a Christmas tree by the amount of rolls of tape around the box Grin

Yep, our box went straight in the bin!
LitAffy · 28/12/2020 22:36

I tried thick bin bags, scrunching and twisting the branches together (they don't unhook, the tree comes apart in 3 pieces). I played Tetris with the tree in an attempt to find the perfect ratio to fit it in the box like the manufacturers do. I even tried kneeling and squishing with all of my might but that just caused the box to rip Blush so the update is - the boxes have been thrown shoved in the shed to be recycled and I have a click and collect order from Argos for some tree storage bags all done with my 7th gin in hand. Thank you all!

I wrapped all my parts up in cling film after squashing them down. And then they go into a clear ikea box with a lid.
