If you have time it’s worth reading all the posts from the finalists but this year we have

Feminism/Suffragettes vs The Voiceless.

Voting opens soon. VOICELESS FOR THE WIN

*for anyone who doesn’t know what it is it’s the annual competition to vote for what is clearly the most bullshit post on the internet from the last year. There’s been some strong contenders but these two are glorious and worthy of a place in the final.

@just5morepeas, these are genuine posts people have written which are clearly nonsense but they are trying to pass off as something which really happened.

Although there is a suggestion people are purposely trying to get in the competition by writing nonsense. I don’t agree anon posts should be allowed in the final!

I'm pretty certain I've read posts from Charlie's mum on MN. Grin

StealthPolarBear · 28/12/2020 19:43

Love Nelson Mandela :)

BonnieDundee · 28/12/2020 20:36

Surely charlie in asda wins hands down.🤣

3rdNamechange · 28/12/2020 20:43

Where's the pregnancy one ?

Hoppinggreen · 28/12/2020 20:46

GrouchyKiwi that was my point but I had people hoping I never get old - which was basically saying they hoped I died soon.

Janonomouse · 28/12/2020 20:57

Voiceless reads like deliberate satire, so shouldn't win.

Barmbraic · 28/12/2020 23:44

Has anyone got a different link to the NHS one? I can't squint at the twitter feed and my drunken googling is only giving me the reddit thread posted above Sad

StillCoughingandLaughing · 29/12/2020 01:45

I nominate elderly men weeping in the egg/loo roll aisle in Sainsburys sadly clutching their shopping list with just one item on it

‘I was so upset for the poor old man that I just had to take his photograph and share it online immediately’.

andawaywego · 29/12/2020 02:11

Some of them are clearly joke posts though. Like the one with the toddler putting on his mum’s uniform and saying he’s going to work. It was a kind of meme a while ago where people would come up with more and more ridiculous things their child had done ie their baby making them breakfast because they’re the best mum in the world.

FreeBettyBoop · 29/12/2020 02:15

Should have had a quick look at my LinkedIn feed. These posts are ten a penny on there.

AfterSchoolWorry · 29/12/2020 02:50

"If you have any contractions please ring 999"

Seems legit! 😂

TaraR2020 · 29/12/2020 02:51

NHS letter definitely #1!

Vascular lab and the short shorts in Target and snob mother have been viral for years

Stompythedinosaur · 29/12/2020 03:05

These are brilliant! Very funny!

Marshmallow91 · 29/12/2020 03:11

NHS letter is the winner for me, hands down.

This is it, hopefully it's readable.

Thanks @CharityDingle Smile. Yep, that's a winner.

GivenchyDahhling · 29/12/2020 10:44

You know I think the feminism, suffragettes one might be true. Perhaps not quite the 60 teenage boys she described but I teach at a school where there would definitely be boys who would give that kind of response and then try and get a chant going. I also looked at the poster’s Twitter account and she doesn’t seem like the type/type of account to post a blatant lie for likes.

coldwaterfeed · 29/12/2020 11:27
@SinkGirl the NHS letter one is so so so good. It should have done better. I became fascinated with it and tracked down the original post on FB. The poor girl has clearly got issues Sad
Where is the NHS letter one, sorry? I can’t see a pic upthread?

coldwaterfeed · 29/12/2020 11:27

X post

CaptainMyCaptain · 29/12/2020 12:39

That NHS one is hilarious, another one who can't spell: 'ur' and 'u' for your and you.

I think it is quite likely to happen but not for the reason the poster thinks.
