It’s getting to that time of year again!
What’s your New Years resolution ( if you have one) and why?
Mines.

  1. learn to say no to things I don’t want to do. Because I need to learn to put myself first sometimes.
  2. I’m quitting drinking for 9 months as my best friend just found out she’s pregnant and I want to support her.
  3. To be more money savvy.

@pepsicolagirl
I love this! I could recommend a book that helped me with this massively. It’s called be your own best friend by chessie king. I adored reading it!

Get back into yoga

Read a bit more

Nothing ground breaking but both those things are nice for self care.

I was watching 'Godmothered' with my dds Christmas Eve and there was a line that really hit me.
Something like "you won't find happiness sat in your sweats drinking wine every night"
I'm not saying I'm unhappy (although I think that probably the closest to summing up my feelings) but I'm not going to do anything about it sat around drinking wine or running my dds' social life. I'm the only one who can do anything about it.
I expect I may have to postpone this until the pandemic has been put under control Sad and I've lost 5 stone.

  1. Be the best version of myself I can be.
  2. Lose weight.
  3. Increase my fitness.
  4. Remain positive.

  1. To read 50 books.
  2. To get to the bottom of my Illness that has neurological symptoms and getting worse this year.
  3. To learn to say no when I don’t want to do something.

Just decided on a new one today. I'm going to de-clutter one part of the house each weekend (one cupboard etc). We should be moving into our new house this time next year so de-cluttering bit by bit would make it so much easier.

To be a good mum and to keep on top of the cleaning and washing, especially when baby will be reusable nappies!

I love NYR - a new start, chance for a new beginning, I make resolutions every year. Don't always keep them, but it's a good start in the right direction.

This year:

  1. Lose one more stone by following 5:2 (have lost 2.5 stones already).
  1. Get on top and stay on top of the housework (have an app that I will follow for each job needing done - just have to do each job on the list for that day).
  1. Read more. Going to make this manageable by stipulating that I have to read one sentence of my book each time I sit down with a cup of coffee. I know if I start one sentence I will sometimes end up reading a whole chapter, but by setting the target low I'll be able to keep it up.
  1. Exercise more - target is a minimum of 30mins twice a week. Again, I'll do more than that some weeks, but that's the minimum I must do.
  1. Take more care of myself - simple things like making time for a bubble bath, making sure I've brushed my teeth for long enough, taking 10 mins in the morning to style my hair rather than just drag a brush through it.

Going to have a little reward for myself at the end of every week that I manage to keep all my resolutions - something cheap and simple like a facemask, new nail polish or body lotion, getting a book I want to read.

wilsontribe07 · 30/12/2020 13:51

To get on top of life admin and file all incoming mail on the day it arrives rather than letting it pile up for six months (very boring resolution!).

supercee · 30/12/2020 13:59

To get a grip of my life going into the last year of my 30's, which I will do by -

Losing a stone as a first goal. An extra half stone on top of that would be grand.
Stop drinking wine, at least while I'm losing weight. I drink for the wrong reasons at the moment.
Put more effort into getting a new job.
Start a hobby which will hopefully lead me to meet new people (Covid will probably kaibosh this).

LuckyNumberThirteen · 30/12/2020 14:09

Not to buy any more books until I've read the massive backlog I already have.

Deelish75 · 30/12/2020 14:14

To continue what I started last year

Drink more water
Eat more fruit and veg
Swim (40 lengths) once a week

Since the beg of Nov lockdown I’ve slackened so need to start up again. Will probably walking in the park until the swimming pools reopen by me.

Squirrelinatree · 30/12/2020 14:19

Learn to drive. Have always been terrified to even try. I’m about to turn 36 and moved house in the summer. We are now quite rural and the school my son will go to has no public transport link. He’s 3 in February so I have to do it this year.

Notcontent · 30/12/2020 14:30

More reading, less Mumsnet.
Waste less money.
Be nicer to myself.

Nowaynothappening · 30/12/2020 14:37

It’s the most generic one ever but I need to lose weight. I have had two babies in two years plus three miscarriages so five pregnancies in three years. My body is pretty knackered and I haven’t looked after myself properly for ages now. I’m a size 18, I was a size 10 before the pregnancies. I’m breastfeeding so can’t do anything extreme but I’m basically going to exercise more and cut out the junk plus drink more water.

jitterbugintomybrain · 30/12/2020 14:51
