To ask what your childs covid rash looked like

Ds had what we thought was going to be chicken pox. Lots of small red spots appeared everywhere very quickly but they have stayed like that and only one has turned into a proper spot.we were told if it was chicken pox it would be obvious by the next day. He has been a little under the weather but has no covid symptoms that would qualify him for a test. The spots are small and red not very raised, mainly on his trunk but a few in other places like legs, neck and face.
Has anyones child had a confirmed covid case and got a rash and what did it look like? Or has anyones child had chicken pox which didnt develop like you'd expect.

This is my little boy from April. Was truly awful. He stiffened up and then couldn't use his legs probably and ended up in hospital for 10 days.

Sassypants82 · 28/12/2020 22:25

@pinksmiles, hope he's doing well now. Poor little boy.

Pink smiles I'm so sorry that's awful, I hope he's recovered ok. How frightening for you all

Kind of hive-y and also chicken pox type spots but they don’t scab over and keep appearing over a week or so.

Awful, this does make me wonder if my son’s illness and rash in February could’ve been COVID he started with cough, the sore throat, diagnosed with tonsillitis p, and given penicillin, 10days later developed an horrific rash over the course of 3 days. Told delayed onset penicillin reaction, but was never convinced,

My DD had what you describe on lower back, abdomen, sides and thighs. Not as large as chickenpox. Came up and receded twice over 4 weeks (I think the spot count also increased a little the day after they were first visible); negative covid test though.

He's doing absolutely fine now.. petrified of catching COVID again, hates leaving home and going back to school in September was a nightmare but physically he is really well. He was unwell for about a month in all. He had several different diagnosis first as it was so early in the pandemic that the rash was fairly unknown about.

It looked liked hives, hurt his nerves and joints were sore, stiff and swollen. He became puffy and swollen in the face and eyes. His lips also were a blue-ish colour on and off but his o2 levels were always fine.

He's absolutely fine now, as quick as he got unwell he bounced back just as fast really.

So pleased to hear, pink. Poor love, he'll have stories to tell in the future but I'm sure he'd rather have skipped it all together.
