To ask if you could retrain as quickly as possible what would you do?

Background - admin, low paid (19k) age 35, little qualifications and hate my job. No major interests or callings as such, not great with numbers and stupidly squeamish.
I have around 5k available that could be used for training.
Would like to retrain as quickly as possible with the ideal scenario being earning approx 30k within 5 years.

If this was you what would you do?

Can you see yourself working to targets? Recruitment Consultancy would get you past that figures fairly quickly in OTE. If you're good at it, past that in basic in a few years too.
Essentially a sales role with a lovely bi-product of helping people. Tenacity, curiosity, empathy, not scared of a phonecall or a direct message, ability to get people talking ...
It's been my career and now my own business for the last 20 years. You can earn a lot.

Iv always fancied training as an electrician

@LaurieFairyCake

Nurse

Radiographer

Pharmacist

Just to say a Pharmacist is not a quick retrain opportunity. 4years of University with a masters degree, a year of on the job training before sitting a final exam. 3 chances to pass the exam- if you fail you cannot be a pharmacist. So sorry but not a ‘quick’ retrain option 🙈🙈

Lol,

Yes I’ve considered pharmacy before as it’s very interesting and despite my squeamish nature I love all things health! I’m too old to retrain for that amount of time. I need to change paths as quickly as possible and do it whilst earning.

I don’t think I’m pushy enough for recruitment, I’m naturally shy and anxious but maybe I could change that, who knows.

Gas engineer or electrician

Buying. CIPS course.

It took me three years and I went from £21k to over £40k.

What about a health / nutrition coach? Something you have already had experience and interest in, could do some further training in and could do from home if you wanted. You could always start it up on the side to start with. Nutritionists etc do well on Instagram as well.

Hopefully this is not stating the obvious but one way to get HR experience is to take on temp roles. A bit of a risk to quit a permanent job to do this but perhaps you could speak to a recruitment agent (who probably has a background in HR themselves) on ways to get the HR experience and how likely you can get a permanent role with a CIPD qualification.
