Simple concepts?

Like boxes, pyjamas, pet sleeping arrangements,tv shows, boardgames, household arrangements , what names they use for various things etc? I'm not even getting into the Covid ones.

Basic, simple things that obviously are a matter of what you like and want /are able to do.

So many people recently displaying this faux naïveté, in badly disguised attempt to just say "you're wrong, I don't like it ,you should stop doing it".

I just don't understand...

I imagine a "tinkly" (I know...) voice, with some unnecessary blinking and head shaking and desperate hands. I can imagine they are a delight to live with. Hmm

I mean it's pretty obvious they're twats. Why pretend they're thick twats?

PP made a good point actually. If you're one, own it and frame the thread/your thoughts that way. I might agree , I might not, I might totally ignore it because it's the 2573838483th thing I've seen on the subject.

"I don't understand " annoys the crap out of me.

It's life not quantum physics.Grin

I don't think it's looking stupid so much as "something THIS (uncouth / common / working class / insert judgemental bollocks) would never enter my superior head and so I'm going to feign housewife horror hands because it's so (common etc) I could NEVER allow my delicate constitution to dwell on it"

Twats

You need to bear in mind that some folks here are a lot older than others - so there are generational differences that mean we won't always know what each other are referring to. It's not necessarily always "faux naïveté".

Did you ever watch Triangle, play on a Merlin, know who the "milk snatcher" is, have a chopper or wonder where white dog poo went? Wondering where white dog poo went "is a thing" for a certain generation.

If they can use mumsnet they can use Google! Rather than "just not understanding"

LuckyNumberThirteen · 27/12/2020 19:50

I thought this on the Christmas Eve box / matching pyjamas thread.

I personally do neither of these things, but neither are remotely confusing concepts.

The OP was just being a dick.

Imiss2019 · 27/12/2020 19:51

I thought this reading the dogs on beds thread earlier. Just tell me you think I’m a skanky mare and get it off your chest love if it helps you feel better.

AccidentallyOnSanta · 27/12/2020 19:59

" I don't understand toilet brushes" Grin

I sometimes imagine all these people on a reality show set in a town with all the worst "offenders ". They just get dropped off and try to navigate life without joining in(because principles) or offending the locals(because they rely on them for food and shelter) while internally cringing the whole time and praying for a ray of "sophistication "
. "I'm so confused, get me out of here!"

The one that really gets to me is. The OP says their toddler is two years and two months and then someone come on to say ” you are unreasonable to say that”. If you say that, surely you have to explain why because I’m damned if I know. There is a huge difference in development with a toddler two years and two months and one two years and ten months. Surely it’s better to know the exact age if someone has a development query.

OP you just did the same thing! Grin So I suppose they do it for the same reason you wrote yours, which is to not come across too judgey (at first, at least). Then slowly weave in their opinion when others have validated it Wink.
