Urgent Query before I embarrass myself in Tesco

Elderly relative has given us some Tesco saving Stamps for Christmas. Have never heard of these and all I can find online dates back to 2010 ish. Nothing on Tesco website about them. Do they still exist? Can I use them?

They do these in Morrisons. I normally buy 1 or 2 stamps each time I'm in there and then when I do my Christmas big shop it really helps. I haven't done it this year with lockdown etc I've been shopping more online and at various different stores and I missed it so I'll get back on it this year.

@JazzyGeoff

Some of these posts are a bit 'let them eat cake?' Grin
Most definitely

@maddiemookins16mum

I remember ‘back in the day’ going to the Post Office to get my £2 car tax stamps, used to stick them in a card. This was the early/mid 80s.
I used to buy car tax stamps until 2007 or so. I only stopped because I got a company car! I love savings stamps. The toy shop in our village did them. DS had a savings car when he was 4 for a wooden helicopter.

These were a godsend to me years ago. Small, regular, easy ringfenced savings for Christmas.

And I'm naturally frugal (tight, according to every DP I've ever had) and great at budgeting and managing money.

When you are actually poor, not poor in the MN way of my god how will I afford a half million mortgage, plus school fees, plus skiing way, they are a good savings tool - and they show strong financial planning and organisation.

All the sneery posters need to sit down and think very hard about £2 being a noticeable part of a weekly budget for some people, and why sometimes it's better to have it locked down in this way, than saving actual cash.

lidoshuffle · 28/12/2020 14:11

I didn't know about these, but I think even if you have comfortable budget they could be useful. Buy a couple of stamps every time you pop into Tezzie's without even noticing it, and you could have several hundred pounds next Christmas.

I’m missing which posters are sneering or being ‘let them eat cake’ here.

The confusion of ‘why wouldn’t you just save up?’ is lacking in empathy at best.
MrsGrindah · 28/12/2020 17:04

These are a great idea and I,don’t know why all supermarkets don’t do them

ASDA do quite a good bonus on theirs on a sliding scale - so save £200 they give you £9 - better interest rates than a bank.
