Hi i have already done a post few weeks ago regarding my hair loss after having my daughter she is now 5 months old my hair loss is not slowing down it’s getting really bad I’ve had blood test done all came back normal my hair was really thick before becoming pregnant but now it’s really thinned out to the point we’re I’m worrying rather than my hair balding on the side of my temples my hair is thinning on my crown 😫 there’s just so many strands of hair I lose each day not sure how much more hair I can afford to lose! Did anyone else lose hair on there crown rather than there temples and had very thinning hair I’ve never had this problem before!
Each day it’s getting thinner and thinner I can’t take this anymore .
I know it can be normal after having a baby but I thought I would of seen some improvement by now .
Thanks

It looks like thick hair to me OP. If it helps though, I found that around six months post partum my hair was shedding most, and at about seven months or so the new hair was noticeably growing through at the roots.

Loiis12345 · 27/12/2020 12:40

@SirVixofVixHall
It just feels so thin around that area plus my hair has really thinned out I have lost at least 50% of my hair
Just worrying me alott but like I said this has only happened since I’ve had my baby never have I had anything like this before I really hope it stops soon x

Don't worry this is all totally normal, but really annoying at the same time! My little one is now 19 months and my 'new' hair is finally starting to grow again. You can actually see a line where the new hair stops in amongst all the old hair 🤣 it'll slow down soon so try not to stress too much about it.

Lexie365 · 27/12/2020 12:43

i don't know if this will help as i haven't tried taking them postpartum ( but will after this baby) but when my hair was thinning out massively like i was losing a lot every day, i found biotin vitamins really really helped me. 10,000mg, my hair stopped falling and has got a lot thicker x

Loiis12345 · 27/12/2020 12:50

@MaMaD1990 i just can’t help it every day I’m like omg 😱 there’s just so much hair everywhere I jus can’t believe how much hair I’ve actually lost and how much my hair has thinned out it’s crazy I’m so paranoid about it now feel like everyone can notice 😕 jus find it strange why it’s thinning near my crown rather than my temples! Ready for this to end 🤦🏻‍♀️
@Lexie365 I’m taken hair gummies that have biotin in plus I’m using shampoo with biotin still not seen any improvement been using it’s for 6 weeks x

I wanted to go back on the pill and started taking Yasmin/Lucette (worked for me before DC) and my postpartum hair loss improved dramatically x

Loiis12345 · 27/12/2020 13:12

@hassletassle I’m
Thinking of going on the pill never been on it before going to ring my doctor Tuesday!

Once your hair is in a shedding phase no amount of gummies or biotin shampoo (Hmm) will help. Hair is dead, once its grown all you can do is prevent it getting damaged, or make it appear shinier etc. Other than that all you can do is wait for new growth.

You are in the exogen phase of your hair cycle.

LittlePetal82 · 27/12/2020 13:21

My hair loss was at its worst around 5/6 months and then started to get much better after that. I had massive clumps coming out every time I showered which terrified me but it does get better and I can now see new hair coming through.

avidteadrinker · 27/12/2020 13:23

Around the 4-5 month pp it was really bad for me, the only thing that worked was cutting my hair short (from long to Bob length), it dramatically reduced the amount of hair falling out

Loiis12345 · 27/12/2020 13:29

Yeah my hair is past my waist so probably why it looks so bad! Mine started falling out around 3months pp and now I’m 5 months postpartum it’s still bad I hope it stops soon well it need to or I’ll definitely have no hair left 🥴🤦🏻‍♀️ This is jus one thing that is never talked about and with this being my first child I was scared when it all started falling out couldn’t believe it! It’s nice to no I’m not the only one. X

The majority of my friends had this, it is totally normal. Mine fell out a lot and went almost straight (I have very curly hair) then the new hair was curly again so i had to cut mine as it looked bizarre to have these longer straight strands with curly roots !
It will settle down over the next few months.

Loiis12345 · 27/12/2020 16:45

@SirVixofVixHall
Let’s hope it stops soon as it’s been going on way to long lol ....
I know it’s common but it’s so stressful can’t do anything with my hair it’s the washing and brushing that scares me the most x

The hormones of pregnancy stops the normal shedding of hair, so when they are no longer there post partum you loose your hair.

it will soon settle

Sputnick81 · 27/03/2022 15:01

Hi there I’m in the same situation as you now and I’m wondering if your hair stopped falling out and if so how long after pregnancy? Also did it grow back as think? Thanks

RVN123 · 27/03/2022 15:37

Yeah OP, usually pretty normal, it's called telogen effluvium. Any shock the body experiences (trauma, grief, childbirth, surgery) can show up about 3 months later in the hair growth cycle as excessive shedding.
Additionally, the shedding phase of the hair is slowed down during pregnancy so it can make it seem even worse when the unshed hairs all start falling out.
I had balding patches at both my temples and had to take to wearing a thick wide alice band thing to try to hide the receding hairline.
The good news is that it usually sorts itself out again in a few months and you should start to see the new baby hairs growing in.
I don't remember thinning at the crown but I'm sure it is possible.

The other good news is that you have had blood work done and all is normal. I'm assuming they checked your thyroid and iron levels? Both common culprits for hair loss/thinning.

Take a good multi vitamin, with iron and also a biotin supplement. Should get you on the path to renewed hair growth.

Sputnick81 · 28/03/2022 00:24

Thanks for that. I guess my problem is that is started falling in in clumps in my 5th month of pregnancy and that continued through my entire pregnancy and now it’s happening after too. In total it’s been falling out for over a year!! I have very little left at this stage so I wondered if this had happened to anyone else and their hair recovered.
